“The need for nurses' did not end
with V-J Day. The wounded soldier
was not miraculously''healed by the
cessation of hostilities. Also, new
fields are opening about the Presi
dent's plan for a National Health
Program. Industries ..are employing
nurses in ever increasing numbers to
insure health to their employees and
their families, hence the increasing
demand for nurses.
“Prerequisites for entrance to the
school of nursing of .tke Medical Col
lege of the State of South Carolina io
gPaduatlon from high school. Prefpr*
ence is given to students in the up
per one third of thehr class and to
those with college preparation. Ap
plicants meeting entrance require
ments are receired from any part of
the state.
“To meet the emergency all tuition
fees hare been suspended for the next
year at least. Unifornas, books, room,
board and laundry are free to stu
dents. 'The course is for three years
and good scholarship Is expected.
“Graduates become registered nur
ses with the degree of R. N. upon
satisfactorily passing the licensing
examination given by the State Board
of Nurse Examiners.
