American Legion, held at the Legion hall last week Monday, j The meeting was largely attended by Legion members. Legion Anzlllary members and invited guests. Congressman Richards made an in teresting and instructive talk. He said in part: The Legion Post awarded the 1145 American Legion Distinguished Ser vice award to Post-yCommander A. Sam Karesb, the award belnp based on the 24 years of community iSMTice that has featured the career of the recipient. Mr. Karesh has been active in the work' of the Crippled Childrens so ciety of the county, the T. B. asso ciation, China Relief, Clothing drive, Jewish relief, local USO activities, as a member of the county war price and rationing board and as,chairman of the national war fund drives. During tbe war fund drives a total of 126,921 was subscribed. Previous distinguished servioe awards of tbe local Legion post have gone to Dr. J. W. Corbett. Mrs. Mar garet C. Mayfield and John. M.
