Rev. A. D. McAm, pa<tor Tof the church, officiated using the double ring ceremony. Palme and smllax in terspersed with baskets of white gladioli and seven branched candela bra holding white tapers formed the background for the vows. Mrs. A. D. McArn, organist, play ed “Claire de Lune” (Debussy), cause” (d’Hardelot), and ‘^ve 5^1a” (Schubert) before tiie o^ijBfmony. “Liebstraum” (Llit) was softly play ed during the ceremony. The tradi tional wedding marches were used for the processional and recessional. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her father. Perry R. Lang ston, Sr., wore a gown of white satin fashioned with ilweetheart neckline, long sleeves, fitted bodice, and full skirt ending in a train. Her fingertip illusion veil was worn with a coronet of orange blossoms, and. she carried a bouquet of white rose buds and gardenias showered with Bonvardla. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, a gift of the groom. Miss Eklith Bikle of Charleston. S. G. was maid of honmr. She wore a Ms« gown with fitted satin bodice and tulle skirt, blue sweetheart hat, and carried a bouquet of pink gladioli aad blue gypsophila. The bridesmaids were Mias Betty Blanchard of Camden, 8. C., ahd Long laland, N. Y., and Miss Margaret Harter, sister of the groom, of Engle wood. Ohio. They wore pink gowns laAioned the same as that worn by the maid of honor. Their bonqueta were white gladioli and blue gyp- aophila. The groom had Perry R. Langston, Jr, brother of the bride, as his best ban. The groomsmen were W. W. Bates, Jr., of Camden and BUly D. Hayes of Rock Hill, 8. C. Mrs. Langston, mother of the bride, wore blue crepe with black acces sories and a shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Harter, mother of the groom, wore aqua crepe with black aeces- •orles and a i^oulder corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Harter, known to her friends as “Mickey", is the attractive daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry R. Lang ston, Sr. She graduated from Camden High school and attended Converse college. Spartanburg, S'. C. Mr. Harter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Harter of Englewood. Ohio. He was recently discharged from the USAAF, after having finish ed his missions as a pilot with the 8th Air Force. Since his discharge he has been associated with the Lang ston Motor Co. Immediately after the ceremony a reception was held at the Court Inn. Assisting in receiving were Mr. and Mrs. John E. Harter and members of the wedding party. The bride’s table was covered with a lace cloth, centered with a crystal bowl holding white carnatioas and chrysanthemums and silver candela bra bolding white tapers. At one end of the table was a three-tiered bride’s cake. At the opposite end was a beau tifully appointed tea service from which Miss Ruth Richards served tea. Also assisting in serving were Misses Sydney Jones, Bitsey Coxe, Betty Muller, Hallie Clarkson and Sybil Drakeford. ^ ** Immediately after the reception Mr. and Mrs. Harter left for a wedding trip. For traveling Mra. Harter wore a three piece grey suit with Mack accessories and a shoulder corsage of gardenias. They will be at home to their many friends after January 1st Mrs. Edward Nolan spent Christ mas day with her mother, Mrs. A. F. Heckel of Sumter. MARYE IS HOSTESS On Friday afternoon Mrs. Alice Marye entertained a large group of friends at her home on Lyttieton street. Boykin poured tea and coffee THE METTS ENTERTAIN Colonel and Mrs. Arthur Metis were hosts on Saturday afternoon at a de lightful party at their home, honoring their gueet, Mrs. Catoe Glover of Washington, also Mra. Jamee Scales, and daughter. Mlaa Mildred Scales and son Cbsirles, of New York. A large number of friends called during the afternoon. Midshipman Kirby Tupper of the U. S. Naval Academy is spending the holidays in Camden. r Mrs. Wiley Sheorn has returned after spending Christmas in Lancas ter with her mother. Captain William DeLoache of the U. 8. Medical Corps is visiting his mother, Mrs. Louise DeLoache. Colonel Oran Hydrlck of Washing ton- is spending the Christmas holi days, with his family In Camden. Miss Shannon DuBose of the Uni versity of South Carolina is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allison Du Bose. Lieutenant-Commander Claytor Ar. rants, who has seen considerable for eign service. Is at home on terminal leave. Mr. and Mrs. E. Miller Boykin of Moncks Corner spent the holidays with Mrs. Eldward DuBose on Fair street. Samuel M. Hazel of Charleston was a visitor last week at the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs, Deas Boykin. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nuckalls and chil dren, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., spent the Christmas holidays with relatives In Camden. , Lieutenant - Commander Laurens Mills who is on terminal leave. Is visiting his ’ mother, Mrs. Laurens Mills, Sr. Mrs. L. S. Davidson was in Ker shaw for Christmas dinner with her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Davidson. Mr. and Mrs- Burwell Capehart are visiting the former’s parents, Mr, and Mrs. William Capehart at Carteer Hill Plantation. Mrs. T. O. Boland and son, Capt. T. S. Boland, of Blackville, spent Christmas with Mr, and Mrs. DaCosta Brown and family. Eddie Nolan, who has been serving with the Army Air Forces in the Eur opean theater, returned to his home here on November 6. Miss EJvelyn Roberts of Ridgeland and Miss Emaleen Corley df Lexing ton are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Benton Sbeorn during the holidays. Sgt. Benton Sheorn is here on fur lough from Tampa, Fla., spending Christmas holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mri. Benton Sheorn. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Kirkland of Boston, and daughter, Mary Lou, a student at the University of S. C.. are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whit aker, Jr. Lieutenant and Mrs. Shannon Black- well are spending the holidays with the former’s mother, Mrs. Joe Black- well. Lieutenant Blackwell is on terminal leave. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Qundakbr, of Rahway, N. J., arrived Sunday to spend Christmas holidays with her mother, Mrs. A W. Robinson, on Highland avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Charles A King and •on, after a viaH in TarUm Springs, la., arrived here in time to spend Christmas with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benton Sheorn. Mr. James Blakeney of ^Slnston- Salem drove down to Camden Satur day and Miss Lai Blakeney returned with him on Sunday to spend several days with Mr. and Mra. Blakeney. Mr. and Mrs. CHiarles Eivans Boin- eau, Jr., of Columbia, and Trlppett Boineau, U.S.N.R. are spending the mas holidays. Colonel and Mrs. T. L. Aexander, and Thomas Alexander, Jr., of Dur ham, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bolivar Boykin at Mtllway Plantation. Mr. and Mrs. McGowan Holmes of Edtsto Island have also been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Boykin. Capt. R, M. Kennedy, III, brother of Miss Katherine Kennedy, bride- elect, and the only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Kenm^dy, Jr., has recently returned from Manila, where he has been stationed since August 1. ' He has been In the Army for the past four years, and is expecting his dis charge by the first of the year. Joe Tobin and Charles Zemp, Jr., students at the Medical College of Charleston ar© spending the Christ mas holidays at oome. Other students who are at home for the holidays are Caleb Whitaker, III, of Princeton Un iversity, Miss Hallie Clarkson of Wlnthrop, and Bubber Coxe, who at tends school in Darlington. Also Cadet Wiliam McDowell of the Mer chant Marine Academy at Kings Point, Long Island. Rev. and Mrs. A. Douglas McArn left here early Monday morning In tending to spend Christmas at Mf*- McArn's old home In' Tennessee. The driver, a lone woman, crawled out badly frightened but uninjured. The McArns^ then de cided 1o return toUCamden 'and'were back at 'home by half after nine g’clock. Commodore and Mrs. Robert Robin son had as their guests for Christmas dinner Miss Persls Griffin of Wash ington and Mrs. Griffin, Mrs. Edward Du Bose, Mrs. George Griswold of Old Lyme, Connecticut. Col. and Mrs. C. L Miller. Mr. and Mrs. E. Miller Boy kin and Mr. and Mrs. Allison DuBose. Commodore Robinson recently return ed from the Aleutians and will be sta tioned in London for the next three years. The family will sail on the Queen Mary on January 7th. Col. and Mrs. Miller purchased the Rob inson home on Mill street and expect to occupy the home at an e^rly date. ' V FRANCES WEST TO WED Attractive Frances Odette WeeL charming daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Alexander West of this city, is to be the spring bride of ,Ensign Kirby S. Tupper, of Annapolis,' next spring. Announcement of ^ the engagement of this popular young couple was made by Dr. and Mrs. West at an an nouncement party at their home this week. .Miss W’est is a graduate of the Camden high school. Y., an nounced this week by the bride elect’s parents, Representative and Mrs.* R. M. Kennedy Jr., of this city. Miss Kennedy, a charming brunet, was graduated from Camden high school and Converse colege and from the Ehnory University library school in Atlanta. She was assistant libra rian in the chlldrta’s department and also county librarian of the Richland Omnty Public Library. She left Columbia to. go into army library ser vice being post librarian at Camp Lee, Va.. and later hospital librarian ahd post librarian at Mitchell Field, N. Y. She is a naice of Mrs. Jamer B. Murphy and Dr. F. Bugene Zemp of Columbia. Mn Meintrye is Uie son of Mr. and Mrs. William McIntyre of Corning, N. Y., and is s graduate of the landscape architecture school of the UniversltT of Michigaa-eS Lansing. He has ser ved in the U. S. Army and was sU- tioned at the First Air Force head quarters at Mitchell Field.
