Fans will note the all-South Caro
lina high achool football selections.
Not a Camden name appears on eith
er the first or second team listing.
This all-state selection comes from
Oreenrille, the source of much of that
ttsam-rating Junk that was paraded in
the press during the closing weeks
of the 1945 grid season.
• • • •
We’re not going to comment on
this all-state stuff. Elxcept to state
that in our humble opinion, it’s a
bunch of hooey. We say this for the
reason that of the twenty-five
coaches, sportwriters and school pap
ers who figured up this mess, we do
not believe that 60 per cent or more
of these experts saw all of the play
ers in action.
'-CF
Prom the Skipper's Desk
Of She all-star groupingk, we have
seen la *few of thOm in action and
agalivTapoligize for our presentation
of our firm belief that McKay Norris
and Giles Huggins, Camden stars,
were superior to th^ pickings of the
experts.
* • • •
After scanning the all-star groups
and thinking back to those high
school ratings, we are firmly con
vinced that Ivory ins’t confined to the
tusks of elephants.
• • • •
The all-stari?) selections found
Brookland-Cayce placing Bill Estes
and Bubber Senn~on the first team.
Gene HlH’*of North Charleston. Ben
Pittman of Greenville, Bill Jarrett,
Chester Stan Clark of Gaffney, Thur
mond Cook of Sumter. Curtis Waters
of ock Hill. Larry Riggs of Charles-
Horkl i.'w Herald Angels sing.
Once again the ah’ is filled with
song and musk ... the musk of
the spheres. Once again it’s
Christmas with all that this sacred
holiday implies.
We hope that thb Christmas
of 1945 will be^ a truly happy
Christmas for you and yours.
