attended the Shrine game at Char-
lo^ last Saturday. The game won
by^the Tarheels 8 to 0 lacked the
thrills (^fered a year ago. The affair
was scoreless until the fourth quarter
when North Carolina blocked a Sand-
lapper kick and the ball rolled back
into the ^ end sone to bo downed for
safety by a Palmetto player.

From that moment on, the Sooth
Carolinft team fell apart and the Tar
heels scored a touchdown in Jig time.
The game lacked the thrills offered
in the State vs Columbia game at Co
lumbia the night before. As a mat
ter of fact the team winning that Co
lumbia game was easily superior to
either team 4n the Shrine game. And
for that matter, lt\ was a letter

Some of the fans who like their
basketball have been inquiring as to
when the basketball season will open
here. We asked Coach Pieros Und
from his reply we gather that exactly
nothing has been done as yet. Pierce
has been busy with his football pro
gram right op to the end of last week.
We expect th^t by mid-January there
might be something to say regarding
the cage schedule.

We also Inquired of Pierce as to his
reaction to the suggestion of making
the Camden-Sumter game a home
coming affair on Thanksgiving day
and-he told us he liked the Idea very
much. Seems that Sumter has been,
playing Florence as a home-coming
event for several years, but H has
always been a night game. We hops
that something can be done to bring
Sumter hers for a turkey day fracas
next fall. It would rack up a record
crowd.

we believe that there would be Just
as mpch interest, there would be a
much smoother ^ay and plenty of
exciting moments If the Shrine game
