monthly meeting at Jackson high
school December 7th.
The main speaker for the afternoon
was Arthur Stokes, county superin
tendent of education. In his talk he
spoke concerning the retirement law
for teachers and farther cautioned
teachers-to be punctual in responsi
bilities to their school and county
association.
The other business of the meeting
centered around immediate needs for
better facilities 'for schools in the
county.-'
A committee to study these needs
was appointed. The committee will
make recommendations at the next
regular meeting.
President of the’association, T. E.
McLpster, urged the teachers to pay
their state and cpnnty dues by Jan
uary 12th.

Library. The children’s department
has a Christmas tree, which was do
nated by a very active Boy Scout,
and we iu*e asking all adults and Ju
veniles who have books or magasines
which they have read to contribute
them to the library; bring them and
put them on the Christmas tree.
A Christmas party will be given at
the library for the children on Thurs
day. Dec. 20th, at S:80 P. M. All the
children in the city and county are
invited.
Th'e library has Just added a great
many new and interesting books to
the children’s department, and many
new Juvenile borrowers have recently
registered. ■ ..
