(Ethel Ann Mauldin) are visiting Mrs.
Elizabeth Mauldin. They have been
stationed at Selma Field, Louisiana,
since last March. Lieutenant Zerber
served overseas for many months.

ton. From there they motored to New
York to meet Colonel Metts, who is
returning from several years duty
overseas In the European theater of

Mr. and Mrs. James Sweet enter

Sweet. A large number ^ friends
called during. the afternoon. Sgt.'
Sweet has recently received his .dis
charge from the army.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Clark
son Rhame entertained in honor of
her little daughter, Katherine, who
celebrated ,her fourth birthday.

served ice cream and cake.

have returned from St. Petersburg.

with Roy O. Scott, who is' in the Mar-
itine Training School there. He has
completed his boot training and is
now taking a course in Engineering.

who has been visiting her, son-in-law

Herbert Orton. Jr., in Lewes, Dela
ware, has returned home. Mrs. Orten

came with her for a few weeks visit.

Tuesday from Sharon, Conn., and are
at Kamschatka for the season. Mr.
Buckley will arrive within a few
weeks and Major Heath is expected
Sunday.

speaker at the meeting of the Wo
mans Auxiliary of Grace Episcopal
Church on Tuesday afternoon. The
ladies of the Presbyterian Church

County Red Croes Chapter was held

what amount members of the commit
tee would sponsor for the local quoU
for Christmas gifts for Inmates of the
Port Jackson, Shaw Field and Co
lumbia Vetm’sns hospitals.
Represented were the Baptist, Meth
odist, Presbyterian churches and
their auxiliaries, the Jewish C^ommun-
.ity and Sisterhood, Amerkan Legion
and Auxiliary. Rotarlans. DA..R. ,and
U.D.C. Chapters, Junior Red 'Cross.
Father Burke, unable to attend, prom
ised his church’s cooperation. Other
patriotic organisations, unable to send
representatives, expressed interest.
The Chairman. Col. E C. von Tres-
Ckow, presided and presented t he
proposed project of the Central 8, C.
Committee to furnish 4 large trees
and one small tree for every ward
and 750 filled stockings for Port
Jackson hospital, 100 for those at
Shaw Field and. In cooperation and
by request of American I.«glon Aux-
illary, 650 filled stockings for the Co-
lumbla^Weterahs hospital; 460 tray
favors. Of these the Kershaw Coun
ty Junior Red Cross, under the lead
ership of Miss Ada Phelps and Miss
Fannie Fletcher will furnish about
100. The Richland County Red Cross
will also give parties at the Fort Jack-
son hospital during the Christmas
holidays.
Willing response was given by
those present Nine or ten other Chap-
ters in this area are actively partici
pating in the above project.
