Around a sand table in the childrens’ room decorated for Thanksgiving, she told the story of the “First Thanks giving’’ and other Thanksgiving sto ries. read poems and sang songs suit able for the occasion, bringing in at the end the theme of Book«Week “United ’Through Books”. ’There were 15 children present Story-Hour is held each Saturday morning from 10 to 11 o’clock. All children in the city and county in the 1st End, and Brd grades are invited. Brewer, U8NR prominent surgeon of Kershaw, plans to reopen hla office at that place and resume bis duties on the staff of the Camden hospital in the near future. Released to ^active duty from the Navy Medlcaf corps at Jacksonville, Fla., Navy Personnel Seperation Cen ter on Nov. 19, he returns to the prac tice he left in February, 1943. Senior medical officer on board the U8S Nassau and air craft carrier from June 1944 to July 1946, Commander Brewer saw combat service in the Palau Islands, in the Pbillipines and at Iwo Jima. Prior to bis assignment to sea duty he waa senior medical of ficer on the Cadet Selection Board in 8t. Louis and with the Naval Air Pri mary Training Command in Kansas City, Mo. ’ He is a member of the 'American medical association and was president of the Kershaw County Medical asso ciation in 1937. His wife and children, Billy 8, and Jean 6, reslde-ln Kershaw.. ' Ted Marshall, Camden football ace, a member of the Duke University team, was named on the second tedm of the United Press 1945 All-Southern conference football squad. Along with Mershall on the second team is Marion Butler of Clemson. Also Bull Cagle and Footsie Wood of the same team. There were four Duke players chos en on the first team, they being Kelley Mote, ECrnest Knotts, Ed .Sharkey and George Clark. The Winnah! A Thanksgiving offering for Thomwell Orphanage was taken and a neat sum was obtained. Mrs. John O. Richards. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. McCrae, Capt Steven Mc- Crae and Miss Virginia McCrae, Win- throp student, spent 'Thanksgiving day with Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Sauls of Manning. 'They were acompanied by Mr. Rled, Brown, Boyd of- Columbia. Lt. Col. John E, Richards, U. S. Army Chaplain, and son, are visiting relatives in Decator, Oa. Col. W. A. Floyd and family, of Oreenville, spent Saturday here at his old home, guests' of Mrs. P. B. Foyd and Mr. L. A, Perry. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. McCoy and son. Miss Callie Jones of the Capitol City school faculty, is a patient in a Columbia hospital. Several of our citizens are confin ed to their home by sickness. Mrs. W. Z. Hilton remains quite sick and several cases of mumps and flu are reported. Lt. R.
