Armistice day, 1946, was obserred
in an impressire manner in Camden.
Flags were in evidence in the down
town area, as a majority of the merch.

‘ was conducted at Hampton Park, with
the American Legion in charge. The
memorial address was offered by Dr.
Maurice Clarke of Grace Episcopal
church.

in the Normandy area.

by the 89th Infantry division to speed
the return of high point veterans.
In its first league game Twenty

Camp Lucky Strike.

Winner Over Dillon
Bishopville defeated Dillon 41 to 0,
to advance to the semi-finals in the
play-off for the lower state B claSs
championship in a hard fought game
played in Flprence Friday night.
After being held to seven points
in the first half, bishopville. came
roaring back In the third period to
push over four touchdowns. The vic
tory was the 7th straight win for
Bishopville and It was the first de
feat suffered by the Dillon eleven this
season.

The Greenville papers also con
demned the highway commission’s se
lection of regional highway routes,
saying that the road running from
Charleston to the midwest should go
through Greenville, not through Spar,
tanburg, as the commission had put it.
These editorials were followed by
ma.s8 meetings of representatives from
Greenville, Newberry and Laurens
counties.
•Then Greenwood hopped into the
fray, taking exception to the proposed
regional routes from Columbia to At
lanta, Ga., via Augusta. Representa
tives of Greenwood, Abbeville and Sa-
luda counties met and decided that
the road should go through Bates-
burg. Saluda and Greenwood.
Representative Lewis Wallace of
York county, blpsted at the proposed
$1,000,000 Congaree River bridge near
Columbia, claiming that there should
be a bridge over the Catawba river
between I.AncaHter and Rock Hill.
The highway department then said
that such a bridge had been advo
cated. but had been withdrawn from
the plans at the request of the York
county delegation.

The 4-H Club of Mt. Pisgah High
school. Kershaw county, held its regu
lar monthly meeting October 31. Miss
Fewell read the scripture and an In
teresting talk was enjoyed by the 65
