Mrs. Pitt* wa* the former Orlet fatMheth Smythe. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Smythe of Hono- tain. She attended the Uniyeralty of Honolulu. LL Pitts, who is in the U. S. Marine corps, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Heuben B. Pitta of thi* city. He is a graduate of the Camden Hl|^ school and also Furman UnlTerslty. For several year* he was the Junior tennis champion of South Carolina. At the present time Lt. Pitts is be lieved to be in Japan. His wife is staying with her parents in Honolulu. Trott, of 28 Council •treet. to Captain Moultrie Brallsford Boms, army of the United States, Of Chmden and Charleston, took place at noon Saturday in St. Michael’s Protestant Episcopal'* church.' Hydrick, Jr., and Nathaniel L Ball, Jr. A reception for the bridal party [and members of the family was held [after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents, Captain and Mrs. Bams left later for the west coast 0«t-of-town guests for the wed ding included Mrs. Henrietta Brails- tord Burns, mother of the.bridecroom. Garden Club Meets The monthly meeting of the Garden Club was held on Monday* afternoon in the Sunday school room of the Presb3^rian church. Miss Helen Phelps was hostess, with Mrs. E. B. Mobley assisting. Refreshments were served after the business meeting. Bridge Party Mrs. D. O. Houser entertained the Wednesday morning bridge club at her home on Mill street After games the hostess served delicious refresh ments. Birthday Party On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs. Jul ian Burns 'entertained at a party at the home of Mrs. James H. Bums, in honor of the third birthday of her little daughter, Julianna. About thirty of the little girl’s friends attmided. They played games on the lawn and later refreshments were served on the veranda. and Mrs. Julian H. Burns, sister-in law of the bridegroom, both of Cam den. Captain Bums, son of Mrs. Bums and the late James H. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen, of New York, spent ten days with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Boykin. Mrs. John Wall is in Washington with hm* father, Mr. Northrop, who will winter in Boise, Idaho. William VanLandlngham has receiv ed his discharge from the Army and is at home with his parents. Ensign Charles E. Boineau, Jr., is recovering from a tonsillectomy at the Naval Hospital, Charleston. . Deas Boykin. Jr., student at Clem- Bon, spent the week-end with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Deas Boykin, Sr. Ehisign John Mullen, Jr., is home on a thirty day leave, after serving in the South Pacific for nearly a year, Miss May Heyward of Eiast Hamp ton, Long Island, is visiting Mrs. K. S. Smith at Bramblewood plantation. Mrs. CharlM Middleton, Jr., of Charleston, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Richard S. Kirk, at Ingleside PlanU-^ ^agg, N. C. tlon. Miss Frances West has returned from Annapolis, where she attended the Naval Academy centennial cele- hmtibn. Mrs. Ike Jones has returned from Charleston, where she visited her son, Mickey, who is a student at The Citadel. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Keane, who spent the summer in Boston, have re turned to their home in Camden for the winter. Miss Grace Faulkenberry, daughter of Mrs. J. H. Watkins, of Ijinder col lege, Greenwood, spent the past weA- end at home. Miss Ollie Ganse of Atlanta and Savannah, was the week-Mid guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. WeU, Lyttleton street Much to the regret of their many friends, Mr. and Mrs. Halcott Green and family will not return to Cam den this winter. W. Oakman Hay of New York City, is visiting his mother, Mrs. W. O. Hay, and his brother, J. Thornwell Hay, this week-end. * Mr. Henry M. Anderson, of Tulsa. Oklahoma, has returned to his home after spending a week here with his father. Rev. T. B. Anderson and Mrs. Anderson. Captain Bartlett Bergwyn, of Jack- son, North Carolina, was the guest on Wednesday of Mrs. James H. Bums. Captain Bergwyn has received his dis charge from the Army. S.Sgt. Willie T. Etraisington is spending a furlough with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. J., Brasington, of this city. Sgt. Brasington entered the army in Sept., 1940, and has served 38 months overseas. Captain L. W. Boykin, Jr., who has Just returned to this country, after many months in Shirope, is on a thir ty days leave. Captain and Mrs. Boy kin are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Deas Boykin. Major Joseph W. Brunson, who was recently returned to the States, after serving nine months in the European Theatre, has arrived in Camden, af ter receiving his discharge at Fort Lt Margaret D. Clarke, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Clarke, Rec tory Square, who has been spending g furlough here,-left Tuesday forAhe west coast where she is engage<rin rehabllatation work. Captain Robert Marys, who has re ceive his discharge from the Army, spent several days with his mother, Mrs. Alice Marye. From here he went to Wilmington. Del. Captain Marye has been stationed in Texas. , Among those from Camden attend ing the Trott-Bums wedding in Char leston on Saturday are: Mrs. Hen rietta B. Bums, Captain Benton Bums, Captain and Mrs. Julian Bums, Maj or Moultrie Brallsford, Miss Caroline Richardson, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard 8. Kirk. Col. and Mrs. Egtoont vonTreeckow have returned from l^mgssee, the D.A.R. school for mountain children. Mrs. vonTreeckow, State Vice-Regent, was present for a meeting of the Mrs Ulmer S. Eaddy, 3rd, who before her marriage on Sept. 22, was Miss Daniel Hinson, of Lancaster. Mrs. Eaddy taught Home EkKtnomics in Camden High School prior to her marriage. Tamassee board and Founders’ Day exercises on Sunday. The school was founded November, 1914. W.M.S. Hold Meeting Th^ general assembly, of the Wo man’s Missionary Society, of the First Baptist church, met Tuesday after noon, at the former parsonage. There were fifty-one in attendance. A very interesting and impressive program was given by Mrs. Denny Noland, reading from Mat. 6:14-18— “Ye are the light of the world, let your light so shine before men that they may see srour good works, and glorify your Father which is in heav en.” On a table in the center of the room were five candles representing love, faith, hope, prayer and courage. As the candles were lighted the lead er made an appealing talk on each topic, admonishing us that we must have lore, faith, hope, a prayerful life and courage if we would accomplish great things for God this coming year. Mrs. G. C. Welsh and Mrs. E. L. Moseley sang, “Let the Lower Lights Be Buraings,” which added so much Liberty Hill Bride Mrs. W. P. Beckham, Jr., who be fore her marriage to Lt, Beckham, USAAF, son of Major and Mrs. W. P. Beckham of Heath Springs, was Miss Willie Lee Higgins, daughter of Mr and Mrs. H. S. Higgins of Liberty Hill to the program.
