Revival Meeting
There will be a tent revival meet

In the face of the ever-increasing
automobile traffic and complete in
adequacy of parking facilitiesx in this
city, together with laxity of traffic
regulation enforcement by the police.
Chief Alva RMb announced Wednes
day that the lid b going to be closed

is to be rigid enforcement of parkmg
rules, stop signs and double parking.
Compbints have been coming fast
and furious from people who seek to
go'to the govtfnment post office even

parking areas occupied by cars whose
owners are attending a neaihy thea
ter. A check on thb five minute
parking area the past several nights
indicated that the complaints have
been justified, the same cars occu
pied the sones for hours.
Chief of Police Rush stated that
not only would this area be given
careful scrutiny every afternoon and
evening, but be had Instructed the pa
trolmen to check all cars parked
along the street and If they die not
between the angle lines, to fine the
owner or driver $2. Tbe haphasard
manner in which many cars are park
ed, with rear wheels in the wrong
angle areas, eliminatee a number of
parking spaces in every block, accord,
ing to the chief.
The increase of auto traffic has
been so pronounced that the city now
faces a serious parking problem. De
spite appeals, business men and em-
ployees of stores continue to occupy
spaces on the main street, which
rightfully belongs to the shoppers.
The instalbtion of parkins meters
within the next five or six months
should materially aid in solving thli
particular prqblem. Meters are being
installed in scores of cities now and
are proving excellent investments,
not only to the business men but to
the municipality.

It is interesting to note that two
medium slsed industrial pbnts have
arranged for bousing space in Cam
den and expect to begin operation in
the near future. The Camden and
Kershaw County Chamber of Com
merce has been working with the
owners these industries in getting
them situated. 'Detailed information
regarding tikese two Indnstiies is 4^t
being released at the present time
but will be published shortly. How
ever, from the information available,
both plants should pifve to be a^efi-
nlte asset to the community. 'These
plants, both locally owned, represent
^the type of industrial development
that will benefit Camden and^ershaw
County most.
In other words, with a locally own-,
ed industry the profits as well as the
pay rolls are kept in the community
and represent an increase in local
buying power. With foreign owned
industry the pajrrolls remain in the
community and are a welcomed asset,
but the profits go'elsewhere to be
spent The more buying power in a
community, the more money changes
bands, thereby creating an increase
in the potential profit of all business
of the community. Our congratula
tions to these two plants and we are
looking forward expectantly to the
opening of many similar industrial
I>ro]ect8 by local business men.
