The Junior Bed Croee conference

purpose of the conference was to
furnish an opportunity for a eompre-
hensire prosram of Junior Red Cross
activities to be used in each chapter.

advised all chapten in the area of
the importance of this meetlns. The
Junior activities have to correlate
with the school program and the
monthly work should fit into the
school curriculum so as to work
smoothly. There are 20 million mem
befs of the Junioi Red Cross today,
the greatest single youth orgauization
in the world. We must plan for the
peace time future tor the boys and
girls of our country who will continue
to serve others through Red Cross.
Their war work has been outstanding
and world embracing and they are our
smhnsasdors of peace and brotherly
love for the future.
Mis. Jcdin Wall, chairman of volun
teer special services, sends this mes
sage to all volunteer sewers and asks
assistance In this work. The follow
ing letter was received from Ameri
can Red ross. southeastern area, At
lanta, Oa. We are enclosing a copy
of the requssitlon covering material
ordered for your hospital production
quota of 2S pairs of bedroom slippers
and 26 hot water bottle covers. There
is no dead line in the completion of
the infant’s slips. The need is very
great and the garments should be
made up as rapidly as possible. If
volunteers ate advised of the urgency
of the foreign war relief program, they
will gladly contribute their time and
effort to make it a success. Very

of the chapter, Mrs. J. R. Belk, treas
urer and reported as follows: This is

time, in accordance with the Act sign
ed by President Truman, the Sei^xMrd
Air Line Railway has, effecUve at 2
a. m. Sunday, S^t. SO, operating all
trains under Hasten Standard time.
This caused all watdies and clocks
on the railroad to be set back one
boor.
Affective on and after 2 a. m. last
Sunday, Sept 80. all trains scheduled
to depart from terminals after the
turn-back of watches and clocks left
on Eastern Standard time, or one
boor later than War time; however,
as everyone will tom bis watch bac|.

a dally train scheduled to depart at
6 p. m. Eastern War time on Saturday,
