her mother, served refreshments.
Miss King, In addition to winning
high score at her table, was presented
an appropriate guest prise.

age Saturday afternoon. Sept. 22, at
4 o'clock at the parsonage of the First
Baptist church. Rev. J. B. Caston offi
ciating. the double ring ceremony be
ing used.
Before the ceremony Mrs. F. N.
McCorkle played I Love You 'Truly
and Because, and Mrs. Willie Tiller
sang The Lord's. Prayer. 'The couple
entered the room in which the cere
mony took place to the strains of the
Lohengrin Wedding March. The bride
was lovely In a turquoise blue wool
Jersey dress with black accessories.
She wore a corsage of white orchids.
Mrs, Ehidy Is the daughter of Me
and Mrs. D. R. Hinson of Lancaster.
She is a graduate of Wlnthrop col
lege and has been a successful teacher
of home economics at the Camden
High school. She enjoys the esteem
of a host of friends here and in I^n-
caster. 'The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. U. S. Eady of Hemingway.
He attended Clemson college before
entering the service. He served with
the Ninth Air force and has Just re
turned from duty in the European
theatre of operations.
Following the ceremony Mrs. Gas
Hirach entertained at a reception for
relatives and close friends of the
young conple. 'The Hlrsch home was
beautifully decorated with fall flow-
M*s. The dining roolb table was cov
ered with a large cloth nd centered
with a wedding cake which was dec
orated with roses and the names of
Danny and June. The bride and
gnxnn, assisted by Mrs. Hlrsch, cut
the cake. Mrs. F. K. McCorkle pre
sided over the punch bowl and cookie#
were served by the Misses Pearl Mil
ler, Ruth Spps and Mrs. Eddla Lock-
ovoc. Following the reception the
young couple left on a short wedding
trip. 'They will make their home 4n
Columbia.

The annual report of the treasurer,
Mrs. Drakeford, showed the varied
war and local undertakings of the
organisation. The postponed election
of officers resulted in the naming of
the same ofRoers with Mrs. Floyd
Boykin as the new aecretary, and Mrs.

Mrs. Dan Jones will assist Mrs. B.
H. Baum, the regiatmr and also take
over the scrap book. The names of
11 new members were accepted in
1945 and three certificates were pre
seated to Mrs. Floyd Boykin, Mrs. C
P. DoBose, Sr., and Miss Marie Halle.
Election of delegates and alternates
to the' one day State convention to
be held In Columbia Oct. 17 at 10:20
a. m. resulted as follows: Mrs. E. C.
VonTresekow, president; Mrs. R. M.
Kennedy, Jr., alternate, and Mrs.
Frank Babbitt and Mrs. James Bums
delegates.
To the general convention the presi

bride's sister, Mrs. Henry Beard, Jr,,
who wore a peach colored dress of
taffeta with long fitted waistline and
net skirt over taffeta. She carried a
bouquet of lavendar asters. The
bridesmaid. Miss Meta Boykin, wore
a blue dress similar In design to that
ol the matron of honor, while her
bouquet was of pink asters. Mrs.
Beard and Miss Boykin wore pom-pom
hats to match their dresses.
The bride was given in marriage by
her father. Col. 'Thomas L. Alexander,
Sr. She was radiant in her whits
net wedding gown, fashioned wltft
round neck, long sleeves, ending In
poiats at the wrist, long fitted waist
with peplum .at the hip, with net
train and a long veil of bridal illusion.
She carried' a bouquet of white tube
Kovss centered with orchids. Her
•Biy ornament was a Isvslier of
emeralds and diamonds, a family
heirloom.
'The groom was attended by his
brother. Henry Beard. Jr.
Mrs. Thomas L. Alexander. Sr.,
mother of the bride, wore a cham
pagne crepe drees with a corsage of
red roaes. Mrs. Henry Beard, Sr.,
mother of the groom, wore a tnrquolse
blue taffeta dress with a corsage of
pink roses.
Following the church ceremony a
rsception was i;iven at Millway, ths
home of the bride's uncle and annL

kin. Assisting in the receiving line
with the bridal couple were the par
ents of the young couple, together
with the wedding attendants.
Garden flowers were used with ar
tistic arrangement in the Boykin
homie. In the dining room tbs table
was cMitered with' the bride's cake,
flanked at either end wHh white
flowers and lighted tapers.
The bride and groom left during
the evening on their wedding trip,
the bride being attired In a powder

wries for traveling.
The bride is the attractive daughter
of (Tol. and Mrs. Thomas L. Alexander
of Camp Butner and Camden. Her
mother wds the former Ellen Boykin
of Boykin. She was the granddaughL
er of the late L. W. Boykin, Sr. She
graduated from the Camden High
school and attended St. Mary's ^is-
l school at RaUlgb, N. C.
The groom graduated from the Cam
den High school and from Presby
terian college. He is now with the
Army Air force and stationed at Do
than. Ala., where the young couple
will be located temporarily.

Winter Activities
Mr. and Mrs. Kent Miller of-Louls-
vUle, Ky., are occupying the home of
Mrs. N. V. Hawley, 1808 Fair street,
for the coming winter season.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller plan on bring
ing their nationally famous trio of
steeplechase horses to Camden in De-
cemoer.
The three horses, oonaietent win
ners In the various Jump races held
during the summer season are: Elk-
ridge, War Battle and Battel Cruiser,
the latter two being by Battleship,
owned by Mrs. Marlon duPont Scott
and winner of the Grand Naitlonsl
event In England several years ago.

Goes To Midwest
To Study Voice
Miss Margaret Salmond, Camden's
vocal prodigy, whose beautiful voice
has charmed listeners hsre on many
occaaiona. la now attending the Cin
cinnati Conservatory pf Music, having
won a musical •cholarahip at the
music center she attended at Saranac
Lake, N. Y., last summer.
Instructors at the music center
marveled at the fine voice of the (Tam.
den girl and are predicting a great
future for her. Last year Mias Sal
mond, whose beauty of voice is match
ed by beauty of personality, attended
Wlnthrop college, where she studied
voice.
Seeks To Curb

As a result of the recent high
water caused by the torrential rains
last week, the moaquho pest has be
come most embarrassing.
Representative R. M. Kennedy, Jr.,
has contacted the state board oi
health to ascertain what can be done
toward controlling the moaquho situa
tion.
