Pvt J. L. Williford is spending a 19-
day furlough with his parents. Dr. and
Mrs. J. L. Wlllifoyd, after having com
pleted his basic training at Paris
Island. , While in this phase of train
ing he was awarded /two medals for
expert shot and one for sharp shooter.
Mrs. W. L. Mayor, Jr., has gone to
Pecos, Texas, where she will spend
the next several weeks visiting her
husband. Lt W. L. Major, Jr., who is
stationed there. Miss Sandra Major,
daughter of Lt. and Mrs. Major, will
remain with her grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. W. G. Major, Sr.
Mrs. R. E. Stevenson entertained
the members of her church circle of
the Presbyterian church at her cot
tage at Shamokin Lake on Tuesday
afternoon. ’There were several visi
tors beside the members of the circle
who attended the delightful affair.
The hostess served delicious refresh
ments.

face of the ever-dwindling bag and wrap
ping paper supply, the mayor’s idea is
commendable and should be given the

Mrs. Sims died at the home of her
parents Tuesday morning after a
lingering illness. Before her marri
age to Robert E. Sims. Jr., of Rock
Hill, she was Kathryne Truesdell,
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. Z. Trues
dell oi Bethune. She was a woman
of outstanding charm and talent.
She is survived by her husband.
