enemy,
’’One B-24 Liberator group in the
16th Air force however, when opening
its recMiUy constructed chapel at a
base in Italy, paid permanent tribute
to its first heroes of the war, airmen
killed In action over Europe. In a
formal military ceremony the separ
ate windows of this new edifice were
dedicated in honor of the individual
flyers. Closely resembling the stain
ed glass panels' in large Cathedrals,
the windows were hand-painted by a
soldier artist of the group. At the
bottom ot one of them is the printed
inscription:
