Wits tho sttentKm ot* th« world centered on Remngen and the famoui Ladendorrf bridge, theae names bring nostalgic memories to Jack Whitaker, Manny VV>rt and other Camden an( Kenhaw warriors of the first world war, for they were members of the famous Rainbow Dirislon'of World war No. 1, that occupied Remagen after the signing of the armistice. The Rainbow, division was in the Army of Occupation that took over this Rhine river position in Novem ber. Ills. Among eome'of the other Camden boys of 1118 who were in the Rainbow division were Lennox Kirk land, now of Boston, Lewis Hancock, who rssldes near the Cedars and the Pines, and others. Others from South Carolina, now in the public spotlight were Olln D. Johnston. Monroe Johnson and others. Olln Johnston later became Governor of the state and finally U. S. Sena tor. Col. Monroe Johnson is now at the head of the Bureau of Transpor tation In Washington. MARCH 2Z, IMS Deatii Claims Two Within One Week Southern • A* Mother of Camdon Snecumba At Hospital. Mrs. Marion Oaughman Lee, widow of W. 8. Lee of the Spring Hill sec tion of Lee county, and mother of Mrs. Hanrin Smith of this city, died at the Camden hospital last Friday afternoon. Just one week to the day that her brother, Russell Caugbman, age 41 years, passed away in the Veterans hospital in Colombia. Mrs. Lee, bom Sept. If, 1867, was a lifelong resident of her community and was active in all.affairs of St. Andrews Church' of God. She was beloved by a wide following of r^a- tlves and frlMds. She Is survived by the following children: O. H. Lee of Concord, N. C., Barney W. Lee and Sanford Lee of Lm coun ty, Mrs. Harvin Smith of Camden. Mrs. S. L. Folson of Bishopville. Mrs. Ekiith Baker of Sumter and Mrs. Dora McCaakill; two brothers. John and Julius Caughman of Lee county; two sisters, Mrs. John Cbewning and Mrs. Mattls Joyner of Lee county, 28 grandchildren and 80 great gsandchil- dren.
