Place Orders For
Pine Seedlings Now
Farmers are urged to place their
orders for pine tree seedlings now, in
order that delivery might ' be made
promptly. Applications for the trees
which cost |2i the thousand. F.O.B.
Sumter Nursery or $3.60 per thousand
delivered to you. may be secured
through your County Ranger, Soil
Conservation Service representative
or your County Agent.
One thousand trees are required to
plant one acer, and one man ran plant
approximately three-fourths of an acre
per day.
Nearly eyery farm cdntalns some
waste land that should be planted to
pine trees. These trees can be expect
ed to produce pulpwood in about 16
years and saw timber in about 36
years, giving you a cash crop and in
creasing the value of your farm. The
demand for pulpwood and saw tim
ber can be expected to grow, so why
not plan to take advantage of it by
planting trees now? Your idle land is
costing you mbney and taxes, but If
planted to pine it will soon become
an asset, not a liabllky.
