that a plunge into the icy waters of
the Wateree river was well worth the
effort, since his reward was a ten
pound goose.
And while M. O. Muller, Sr.,* was
extolling bis prowess In winging the
goose, which fell into the swift waters
of the river and was only retrieved
after a quarter mile spint by the said
Mr. Muller, followed by a swift shed
ding of his clothes and a leap into
the river, his son, M. O. Muller, Jr.,

It happened last Saturday and was
a fitting celebration to Armistice day,
says Muller, Sr.
•*1 must have thought I was 20 years
younger;* said the Senior Muller.
“That quarter mile run and then the
swim in the river to the goose came

strength enough to struggle back to
the shore.” '
Freezer-Locker
Construction On
In Armory Bldg.
Work upon the dlsmahl)ing of the
Rutledge street armory to convert the
building into a freezer-locker plant
has been started by B. E. Benson of
HoRy Hill, who purcbi^ed the bpiJd-
ing from the'cTl'y several months pgo.
■ Mr. Benson expects to have the
locker plant In operation by January
1, 1945. There will be 600 lockers
Cub Scout Nows
The Cub Scouts of Pack No. 30, at
tended the Armistice Day program at
Hampton Park Saturday and were im
pressed by thq solemnity of the oc
casion.
Members of Den No. 2 are to meet
with Mrs. Boykin Roseborough at her
hopie on Fair street, Friday afternoon
at 3; 30. She will be assisted by Mrs
John Borrlnl and Mrs. Lewif Mickle.
Plans are being made to take the
Cub Scouts of Camden to the Boy
Scout Rally In Columbia on Friday,
Dec., 1. and at that time the* Cubs
will put on a short program. It Is
hoped that all Cubs will be able to
attend and in uniform.
