well known ip local aviation circles
and prominent in the program of the
Southern Aviation school here, will
have charge of the Cbarlottd base of
the Southern Airways, according to
announcement by Prank W, Hulse,
president, who was also bead of (ho
Southern Aviation group here.
The Charlotte municipal airport
will be the location of a Charlotte
base for Southern Airways. Mr. Hulse
announced 'through Mr. Eve that
"future plans call for a major opers;:;^
tion in Charlotte as tbe center of the
company's activities in tbjs area.”
Southern Airways is the largest
fixed base operator in the Sooth, the
company's activities including opera
tion of airports, which covers salea,
chartered ships, service, flight instruc
tion. maintenance, spare parts and
other supplies and eventually the op
eration of passenger and freight serv
ice. For the present time the Char
lotte operation will be limited to
charter service and flight instruction
under current conditions but expan
sion will follow as soon as possible.
Southern Airways is now operating
extensively throughout the Southeast,
with key bases in South Carolina,
Georgia and Alabama. Expansion here
will be made as soon as military oper
ations at Douglas Airport will permit,
When the war started Southern Air
ways was all set with what the Army
ordered of it. and today more than
20.000 pllbts have received a. part._of
their (rafnlng at the company's air
bases. Army primary flight training
schools were also operated* by South
ern Ainrays at Camden, and Decatur,
Ala.

NOTICE
TO DELINQUENT TAXPAYERS
In compliance with the law, the Comp
troller General’s office has instructed my
office to make cbllection in all Delinquent
Taxes in Kershaw County during the FcM
and in all cases where the taxes are not
paid promptly, I am required to levy up
on and sell the property of the Delin
quent Taxpayer for the ^taxes. Many
automobiles have been escaping taxation.
My definite instructions are to seize, levy
upon, and sell such cars, upon which tax
es have not been paid, unless payment of
taxes be made promptly.
I have no choice in the matter, and I
hope that* the ta^syers will cooperate
with my office, so that the taxes may be
collected without Jevy and sale, which
would necessarily involve more expense
to the taxpayer.
