Thompson attended the gradt|htiug exercises at the Spartan- THI burg Oeoerak hospital last Friday night when her niece, Miss Pauline Thompson, finished as a cadet nurse. Mrs. Thompson was accompanied by Miss Charlotte MacLaucblln of Ches ter, and Miss LeClalr Anderson of Columbia. Mrs. T. P. McCrae returned on Tnes- 4ay after visiting her sister, Mrs. M. L. Sauls of Manning. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Francis are spending the week with relatives here before returning to Macon, Oa. News has been received that Cpl Stephen McCrae has arrived safely in Corsica. John Thompson of University of. South Carolina and Miss Lee Clair Anderson of Columbia, spent Sunday here. Little Miss Sue. Perry Deaton of Charlotte, N. Navy, third son of Mrs. Francis Thompkins, of this city, recently spent a S day leave with his mother. He has Just recently returned from France. Joyner, niece of Miss Cora McOlll of Camden, has been inducted into the WACs. She will take her basic training at Port Ogle thorpe, Oa. Pvt. Joyner was called to active duty August 31. Mr. and Mrs. Benton Sheom have received word that their son, Calvin, has arrived in England. Cpl. 8he<Mm received his aerial gunner wings .at Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a graduate of Camden High school and was em ployed at Southern Aviation school befdre entering the service June, 1943. Nayy Hospital Apprentice Second Class Bennie O. Cousar Heard In Broadcast • Lieut. Col. ~*John B. Cousar was heard in an interview with Bebe Dan iels at the hospital clearing station in France on the “American Eagle in Britain” program. The broadcast was carried over the BBC short wave net work and the Mutual network in America Saturday evening, Aug. 19. Col. Cousar is a native of Bishop- ville and had a very extensive medical jiracUce prior, to-hia call to the serv- ics. He is a graduate of Presbyterian college, where he received his ROTC training. Hia family are promlMst Lee county people, some of whom were mkutonaries to foreign conn- tiiei. His mother, wife and little daughter live in Blshopvllle.
