It is possible to send 60 pounds of
books a year (at the rate of 5 pounds
a month) to each United States piir-
oner of war and civilian internees
held by Germany. Only one package
of books each 30 days will be for
warded to any one prisoner of war.
A 2 iKtund and a 3 pound package
could not be sent in the same month
Here is a rule of thumb question
naire. If the answer is no. in every
case, the books stand a 99 per cent
chance of getting through:

2. Has it maps, charts, travel in
formation which might conceivably

radio, espionage, technical or mili
tary or naval matters?
6. ^s it by an emigre from enemy
held territory?

new members in the J. O. U. A. M.,
honoring the lieutenant-governor. Hon.
J. Ransome Williams, who is a mem
ber of the National Council. Mr. H.

Capt. and Mrs. J. P. Richards at

Capt Richards was recently promoted
from first lieutenant. He is stationed
at Camp Sllburt, Ala.
Mrs. John Q. Richards has been
confined to her room the past week
by illness. Her daughter. Miss Bettie
Richards, of Laurens, is with her.
She was better Sunday.
Lamar, the six year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. L. Jones, is sick.
Mrs. John Roddy and sons, of Rock
Hill, were with her mother, Mrs. J.
O. Richards on Sunday.
Cpl. Stephen McCrae of Greenville,
has been spending a few days with
home folks here.
