Vereen has reported to Homestead, Fla. Pvt. Vereen recent ly spent a fifteen day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Vereen. ’ Mrs. Ethel Hoesoell, of Gettysburg, Va., Is a guest at the Court Inn. She Is the sister of Mr. Joe Haydu, who Is a Clviltan Flight InstnicTor at the Southern Aviation School. Mr. H. P. Mackle, Jr., who has been an instructor at the Southern Aviation School, left Tuesday for Decatur, Ala., where he will serve In the same capa city at the school located there. Mrs. Mackle left for Granite Falls, N. C., where she will make her home. . Sgt. W. A. Stokes has returned to Camp Wheeler, Macon. Oa., after spending the week-end here with his family. Mrs. W. A. Stokes was also here for the week-end and has return ed to Columbia, where she is making her home while her husband Is serv ing In the Armed Forces. Mr. Stanley A. Miller. Flight In structor. has been transferred to Southern Aviation School, Decatur, Ala. Mr. Miller has been located at the school here for the past two and a half years. Mrs. Miller (Neta K. Oliver) will remain here for the time being. • - —— Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ward. Mr. and Mrs. P. P, “Bud” Booher and Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor, who have been making their homes in Camden for some time, have left for Decatur, Ala. Messrs. Ward, Booher and Taylor have been transferred from the South ern Aviation School to the school In Decatur to serve os Civilian Flight (Instructors. Miss Ruth Richards left Tuesday for the Nmrth for a two weeks’ visit Mr. Gostavns Kirby and his daugh ter, Mrs. Thomas Widler, have return ed to the North. Mr. J. W. Boykin, a prominent banker of Lincolnton, Ga.. was a busi ness visitor to Camden this weel. Miss Ollle Horton and Miss Frances Rhame have returned to their schools after the holidays. Mrs. T. C. Ruff has retjimed to her home here after a visit to Rev. and Mrs. ’Thotnas B. Ruff, at Old Fort, N.C. Mrs. Carrie Wooten is spending the week with her son, Elmest In Charles- ton. EMERY-NOLAN The wedding of Miss Jane Emery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alva R. Em ery of Greenfield, Ohio, and Lieut Charles L. Nolan, son of Mrs. C. L. Nolan of Camden,'took place Feb 12. at the bride’s home. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. M. E. Hutson. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a pastel blue suit with block accessouries. Colvin Sheorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benton Sheorn, haa recently been ■ transferretf ' from Laa Yagas, Nev., to Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. John S. Harrison and Mr. Harrison’s mother, who have been in 1940. He graduated from Fort Benning, Ga., on August 28. 1943, at which time he was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant. The couple will make their home In Spartanburg, where Lt. Nolan will be stationed -at Camp Croft. Moody and Mrs. John Tay lor. * ELIZABETH WHITAKER TO WED LIEUTENANT KNIGHT One of the ^tiieet weddings of the 1942-44 social sMson in Camden will take place In the historic Court Inn Saturday evening when Miss Elisabeth Goodwyn Whitaker, attractive brunet daughter of Caleb C. Whitaker, Sr.,j and Harriet Burnet Whitaker will be-l come the bride of Lieut. John Knight I of the Army Air force of Morris Field,! Charlotte, N. C., and Redwood City, Calif. It Is an interesting coincidence that the lovely bride is a direct descendant of the McCra and DeSausseur famL lies,- who 1% hy-gone years lived in the hlatoric dwelling which Is now | the Court Inn. The dwelling was built In 1820 by'Jfofin McCra, who lived there for some time. *- The high-ceiled and sumptlously ap pointed parlors of the Inn will be most attractively decorated for the cere mony with pink and white dogwood and smllax and cherokee roees. The ceremony will 'take place in the east drawing room at an altar arranged be fore the* large fireplace. Father EM- mund Burke of- the Catholic church, will officiate at the nuptial rite. Garlands of smllax and cherokee roses, together with the profusion of dogwood will offer a never-tobe for gotten picture. Mrs. Brown attraded St. Gabriel’s High school, New Rochelle, N. Y., and is now employed at the Rariton Arse nal, Metuchen. N. J. She will make her home in Avenel. N. J. Mr. Brown, son of Mr. H. A. Brown, Sr., and the late Mrs. Lois V. Brown of Camden. Is a graduate of Camden High school and attended the Uni versity of South Carolina. He is now In the Merchant Marines. Guests wqre asked to call between the hours or four-thirty and six o’clock, and upon arrival were greeted by the hostess and Mrs. Ixiis Coxe. Attractive arrangements of Spring flowers were used throughout the house. Tea tables were set in the living room and dining room and were presided over by Mrs. Nancy Muller and Mrs. Alice Marye. Delicious, re freshments consisting of tea, sand wiches and cookies were served by Mrs. John Mullen and Mrs. Joe Me- Kaln. SUNDAY AFTERNOON “OROP-IN" PARTY Mr. and Mrs. John Whitaker.
