delight, over what has been acoomp*

Officers froin Fort Jackson and
other points who have witnessed the
transformation were free to declare
it to be pne of the most complete
Centers in the state if not in the
ratdsouth.
Friday evening the place was most
attractive. An exquisite floral basket
in the lobby was the gift of the Cam
den Floral company and added the
final touch to an attractive picture.
A giant Christmas tree was a^ow
with lights and decoratkma while
about the walls and in the windows
were^rlstmas greens and Shrubbery;
praise from the gnet)a.
Friday night, despite the extreme
cold oaused by a 14 degree tempera
ture out of doors, the interior of the
armory was warm and comfortable.
Much ingenuity and skill are re
flected in the manner in which the
project lias been arranged. Mrs. Bean
and Mrs. Lindsay received many com
pliments for their outstanding' work.
George Cooley, city purchasing offi
cer, who 'has given much of his time
to the project, also comes in for much
commendation for his untiring efforts.
Probably one of the happiest per
sons in the Center over the week-end
was Mayor F. N. McCorkle, who has
given much time and efffort in carry
ing out the establishing of this city
recreational layout.

The South Carolina Baptist Train
ing Union convention will bold its
annual meeting at the First Baptist
church of Columbia on December 28
and 29. It Is expected that not less
than one thousand workers in this
organization which covers all ages
from the very small children through
the adult, will attend this meeting.
