Passes At Hainer
Mrs. Annie Richards Hay, widow
of the late Frederick J. Hay of Liberty
Hill, dlfd Thursday, Oct. 9, at the
home of her daughter, ' Mrs. S, • M.
Huntley, at Hamer. She Tiad long
been in tailing health but the final
illnees was brief. The funeral services
were held on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 11
o'clock In the .Liberty Hill Presby
terian church, of which she had been
a life long member, and pl^wblfch her
father, the late Rev. John G. Rich
ards. was the beloved pastor for over
25 years. It is of note that her. hus
band, tht late Frederick J, Hay, archi
tect and. building contractor, erected
the church and was for many years a
member and residing elder and where
he also was funeralized and is buried
in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hay wfts 83 years old, and by
her sweet' and gentle manner made
friends easily and was loved and
esteemed by all who knew her.

ture course on Monday. Nov. 15. The
classes will meet three times a week
for three weeks.
The sewing room reports that six
ladies have,been cutting and prepar
ing 144 kit bags, which will be ready
to sew next week. The Junior Red
Cross will be asked to help fill these

Camden, Nov.—The high-speed ex
pansion of the United States fleet to
the. world’s strongest navy of over
14,000 ships and 20,000 planes, has
erected an urgent demand for addi
tional officers, according to Mr. H. G.
Carrlson. •
,Mr. Carrlson, who is chairman of
the Civilian Committee for Naval Of
ficer Procurement In Camden said,
"Many classifications of Naval Re
serve oWicers have been re-opehed.
Men between the ages of 2\ and 30
who have college degrees, or those
trom 31 to 45 who have completed two
years of college work plus a success
ful civilian record, are invited to ap
ply for commissions. The Navy needs
theoe men for recently built ships,
stations, bases and hospitals.”
Chaplains, dentists, engineers, phy
sicians, commissary officers, supply
officers, and candidates qualified for
general sea duty are among the spec
ial ileeds of the Navy, Mr. Carrlson
said. In addition, there are billets
available in many special programs,
the list including: Instructor trainer
officers, packaging offlc^rei job anac
lysis and evaluation ’officers, naval
transportation, labor relations offic
ers, safety engineers and physicists.
