AN ORDINANCE ‘‘an ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SCHOOL ATTENDANCE OF MINORS BETWEEN THE AGES OF SEVEN AND SIXTEEN YEARS. Me it ordained by the City Council of Camden, South Carolina, in due seesion assembled the 7th day of ..Oc tober, 1948. Section 1. It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian, or other adult person, having the • care and custody of a minor between the ages of seven (7) to sixteen (16) years, Inclusively, to permit such child to absent binuelf or herself from school for the period of the school term and during tho Uw- fully constituted hours for school, at tendance in the public schools of Camden, South Carolina. PROVIDED, however, that the provisions of this ordinance shall 'not apply to such minors who have completed the tenth grade In a state accredited high school; those gainfully employed, whose employment is essential to Uielr actual livelihoodthat of Hietr par» ents or guardians; or those exempt under the State Child Labor Law.
