The Beginning 11 To Thomas Charles, of Wales, goes I the credit for the establishment of WjT the great British and Foreign Bible Iff Society, which sends the Scriptures VI to every part of the world; but to a E? little girl in a remote country cot- W/y tage belongs the honor of providing Iw the inspiration for this great enter- l^j prise. I\ Out of meager earnings this Welsh ft) maiden set aside pennies with which ? to buy a Bible, and after several D years, having saved enough for this 71 purpose, she set out for the village of Iff Bala, 35 miles away, to make the I purchase. But, alas, when she ar- r rived there, hungry and tired, there was not a Bible to be found. The entire local supply was exhausted! Thomas Charles learned of the incident, related it to friends in London, and asked them to have a Bible Society established. Thus began the * great British and Foreign Bible Society. | | To Fathers and At others " . . . Can the leopard change | bis spots . . .
