father of a son, born recently, according
to word received by friends in
this city.
Mrs. Irby Holland and daughter,
Sara Etta, returned to their home in
Clinton after spending a few days
with her sister, Mrs. O. F. Cooley.
Mrs. Holland will be remembered
here as Miss Desdle Adair and was in
training at the hospital here in 1918.
Mrs. H. L. Richey, DeKalb street,
accompanied by her daughter, Miss
Sara Lynn Richey, Miss Ida Mae Mo
Manus and Miss {Catherine Truesdale
of Rock Hill, attended the graduation
exercises of Herbert, Lynn Richey at
N. C. State college, Raleigh, N. C.
He received his degree In Agriculture
and Soils.
Col. Onan A. Hydrick of Fort Benning,
Ga., arrived on Sunday for a
few days' visit with Mr. and Mrs.
W. W. Bates, The Cedars and The
Pines. Mrs. Hydrick (Dorothy
Smith) who has been here for three
weeks will return with him on
Thursday. Their son, Billy Heath,
will remain for a? longer visit with
the Bates.
Mrs. J. C. Parker (Caroline McKaln)
and two children, Jean and Linda,
have returned to their home in
Union after a visit with her mother,
Mrs. Nannie M. McKaln, Fair street.
Mrs. Parker spent a few days in
Pulaski, Va., with her neice, Miss
Louise McNeeley, a graduate nurse,
who has been confined to her bed
for some time suffering a back injury
sustained from a fall while riding
horse back. Miss McNeeley attended
nurses training school at the Camden
hospital.

profusion in the apartment and the
hosts were assisted in entertaining

when Miss Sarah Mildred Sheorn became
the bride of Charles Allen K^ng,
Lieut, in United States Army Air
corps.
The ltev. A. Douglas McArn. pastor
of the church, officiated In the presonce
of relatives and friends.
Palms, summer ferns and standing
baskets of Shasta daisies with sevenbranched
candelabra holding cathedral
tapers formed the background
for the vows.
Before the ceremony Mrs. A. Douglas
McArn, organist, played a program
of lovely music. The wedding march
from "Ixihengrtn" was used for the
processioual and the Mendelssohn
march for the recessional.
The bride, a beautiful brunette,
who was given In marriage by her
father, Benton Shoorn, wore her
travelling suit, a flattie Carnegie
model of midnight blue summer crepe,
made two piece and having elbow
length sleeves with deep cuffs and
collar of white starched embroided
pique. With this she wore a midnight
blue straw hat with small veil,
blue patent leather and gaberdiue
pumps and carried a tailored nosegay
of bridal roseB. v-v

wore a street length dreHs of Pearl
gray chiffon with bands of gray lace
on the skirt, u small chalk-whito sailor
with gray veil and white accessories
and sho carried a nosegay of
Richmond red roses,
Mrs. Sheorn, mother of the bride,
was dressed In a Navy blue sheer
dress with small Navy hat trimmed
with flesh pink roBes and her flowers
were pink roses in a shoulder corsage.
Immediately following the cereinony
the couple left for Atunta, Ga.
where Lt. King Is sattloned with
Eastern Air Lines.
Mrs. King, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Benton Sheorn, graduated from
Camden city schools and attended
Lander college, Greenwood. She Is
a popular member of the Junior Weffare
League* and a young woman of
extreme charm.
Lt. King is the sou of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl B. King of Scarsdale, N. Y. He
Is a graduate of Scarsdale High school
and the University of Pennsylvania.
He was commissioned at Marlanua,
Fla., in April,' and was a member of
the class 43-D, Southern Aviation
school In the 64th AAFFTD, Camden.

Miss Alice Reynolds of Lugoff, and
Sgt. W. F. King of Fort Jackson, were
united In marriage Saturday, July 3.
1943, by N. C. Arnett, judge of probate.
Mrs. King Is the daughter of
Mrs. Annie Reynolds of Lugoff. Sgt.
King Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. T.
King of Laurel, Md. After finishing
Laurel high school he attended the
University of Maryland.
The couple left Immediately following
the ceremony for the groom's
former home In Maryland and visited
in Washington and Baltimore. Mrs.
King will make her home with her
mother In Lugoff.
Out-of-town guests were: Mrs. J.
S. Robinson of St, Louis, Mo., sister
of the bride, and Cpl. ^nd Mrs> John
B. Ridley of Fort Jackson.

Mrs. John L. Team added a table of
visitors to tier bridge club which she
entertained on Wednesday afternoon,
at her home on Broad street. Invited
to this lovely affair, besides the club
members, were Mrs, R. E.'Stevenson,
Mrs. T. Lee Little, Mrs. E. Clarkson
Rhame and Mrs. B. O. Boykln. Prises
for high score were won by Mrs. Stevenson
for the guests and by Mrs. Dan
Murchlson for the club members.
The hostess served delicious sandwiches
and Coca-Colas at the conclusion
of the card game.

and corsage of gardenias. Miss
Helen Snell, sister of the
bride, who attended her, wore a yellow
street-length dress with brown
and white accessories, her corsage I
being salmon gladioli. Sgt. tlPranols
H. Kirbock also of the 366th, served
as best man.
Mrs. Hush is a graduate of Hiloree
High school and received her dogree
from Wlnthrop college in South Carolina.
Sgt. Hush graduated from the
High school at Camden. They will
reside here.

Park Last Monday
The Recreation committee of the
Kershaw County Civic Council hel?l a
picnic in Hampton Hark Monday afternoon
from 4:30 to 6:30. C. T.
lialdwlu. chairman of the Uecroatiou
committee, had charge of the program
of guinea and atuuta.
Crises were awarded the winners in
the dfforent races and contests held.
Later in the afternoon refreshments
of cookies, sandwiches, and lemonade
were served. Miss Lillian Yates was
chairman of the refreshment committee.
About 75 young people enjoyed
this happy occasion.
Supervised play lu the park is one
of the alma of the Recreation committee.
