.In Kershaw County, according to
the United States Census Population
report of 1940, there were 1467 persons
65 years of age and over. This
was 4.6 per cent of the county's total
population of 32,913
. Chairman Norman 8. Rlchardf of
the County Board of Public Welfare
points out that In May, 1943, the number
of persons in the county receiving
old age assistance was 387, or 26.4
per cent of the county's total population
over 65. In the State the number
of persons receiving old-age assistance
was 24.1 per cent of the total
population over 65 years of age. Ths
national average was 22.8 per cent.. .

of the stellar talent of the City teams

The City team. smarting under the
5 to 1 eleven Inning licking handed
them by the Army lads two weeks
before were out to win the second
meeting and did Just that by a score
of H to 5.
The city slickers, helpless for seven
Innings, during, which Schnell, the
Army hurlor. held them to one lone
lilt, won the cage In the eighth and
nlneth frames, three hits, a walk,
wild pitch and two errors netted
them five runs In the two stanzas.
It was Beebe's ornor in the ninth

lifted a long fly to Ueebe In left field
and the blonde lad muffed It. Tommy

the tying run.
On Artie Robinson's out tit first
Tommy reashod second, raced to third
and scored when Schnell uncorked a
wild pitch. Mutuler singled hut died
at second when Thompson popped to
Kelly at short.
The slickers put up a dazzling exhibition
of air tight Infield defense
play in the Army half of the ninth,
with Adaniski. Broome and Nabors all
going down tit first on neat stops and
beautiful pegs by Juggs Barker atid
Monger, the latter rifling the killing
shots to Bruce at first with perfect
precision.
There was some disputing the decision
of the officials In the seventh
when the Camden team scored a run
which developed into the margin of
victory. Robinson dropped a short
fly to Roland at second and the latter
raced hack, stopping the hall and
then as It fell trapped it against his.

As a result of the Camden win. the
All-Star series Is now all tied up.
The series will he continued throughout
the season, the games being played

the third quarrel into the spotlight
next Thursday.
