Bride Elect Honored Miss Betty Holland, whose marriage to John Harvln, takes/ place Saturday was complimented with a miscellaneous shower last Thursday uight by Mrs. G. F.Cooley and Mrs. Douglas Ogburn, at the home of the former ou North Lyttleton street The rooms of the home were tastefully decorated with summer flowers and the honor guest's chair was marked by a white bow to which was attached a horse shoe. Several contests were held and the prises were won by Miss Elisabeth Pitts and Miss Rhetta MoLeod. Sandwiches, cakes and tea were served. Hadlsy?Johnson On June 6, at the parsonage of the Camden Baptist church, Miss Elisabeth Joan Hadley, of Indianapolis, Ind., became the bride of Sergeant Albert Clayton Johnson. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. D. Anderson. Sergeant Johnson is now with the Southern Aviation school jit Camden. The young couple have an apartment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Gardiner Richards, Jr., entalned at her home Oh north Pair street last Thursday at a luncheon in honor of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. R. McKain Richards. The home was arranged with lovely garden flowers. Bridge was played aud prises awarded to Mrs. ^Pierce Cantey and Miss Ann Whltaker. The bride received, an honor gift. Covers were laid for twenty friends of the honor guest and the hostess. ?? n jt?i Entertains Club Mrs. Ike F. Jones Invited members of her bridge club for a pleasant afternoon at cards last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. John Hench and Mrs. John Mullen played for absent members. A profusion of lovely Bummer flowers decorated the party rooms, where the tables were arranged for bridge. Defense stamps were won by Mrs. S. T. Zemp, Mrs. Charles DeLoache and Mrs. N7 R. Goodale, Jr. After a round of games'the hostess, assisted by her daughter, MIsb Sidney Jones and Miss Sybil Drakeford, served a frozen fruit salad course.. Engagement Announced Mrs. J. R. Belk announces the engagement of her daughter, Aileen Vivian Belk, to James W. Rush, of Clyde, N. C., and Augusta, Ga. Miss Belk is the daughter of Mrs. J. R. Belk and the late James R. Belk, of Camden. She was graduated in May tfrom the University of South Carolina where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Mr. Rush is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Rush, of Clyde, N. C. Last year he was a flight instructor at the Southern Aviation school in Camden. At present he is a basic "flight instructor at Georgia Aero-Tech in Augusta. The wedding will take place on July 4, at the First Baptist church in Camden, at five o'clock. ' Lieutenant Connell To Marry Announcement is made of the engagement of Miss Theresa Carroll and Lt. Norman G. Connell of Camp Claiborne, La., and, Camden, S. C., whose marriage will take place at an early date. The bride-elect is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Carroll of Fort Valley, Georgia. Following her graduation from Roberta high school, she attended Georgia Southwestern college and South Georgia Teachers college, Statesboro. Afterwards a member of the Kite faculty. She is now an employee of Johnson's Pharmacy, Macon. She is the sister of Mrs. Wilbur G. Sutton, Thomaston, and Jamie Carroll, Fort Valley. Her mother before her marriage was Miss Lizzie Bryant, Fort Valley. f Lt. Connell, the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Connell, Camden, S. C., received the B. S. degree from Clemson college, and last June began active duty in the United States Army, Fort Benning, with the rank of second lieutenant.
