the birth of a daughter, April
23, at the Camden hospital. She has
been named Elizabeth Workman McNlnch.
Miss Lois Gaskins, who has been
with the Western l/nlon office here
for the past year has been transferred
to Hogansvllle, Ga., where she
will be manager of the Western Union
office there..

were united In marriage at 5:00
o'clock Saturday afternoon, May 8, at
the home of the bride's grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. George P. Cooley on
Lyttleton street. Mrs. M. Q, Muller
and Mrs. J. 1). Zeutp greeted the
guests.

Mrs. James M. dandy rendered
the nuptial music. Before the
ceremony she played "Medltatlou"
from Thais and "Dove Song" by
Novin. During the ceremony LdeblestVaum

For the wedding all the rooms were
thrown in suite and decorated in
garlands of smllax, roses and Dutch
Iris. The vows were spokeu In the
living room before the mirrored mantle
which was centered with a large
bowl of white rose buds flauked by
white tapers in triple candlebra.
Sammy Ogburu, of Camden, brother
of the bridegroom, lighted the candles,
and Kdward Ogburn, another
brother also of Camden, acted as best
man.
The bride, a lovely blonde, entered
the ceremony room with her
grandfather, George F. Cooley, by
whom she was given in marriage.
She was becomingly gowned in dork
blue triple crepe with dusty rose
trimmings and a small blue off-the*
face hat with dusty rose veil. "She
carried an arm bouquet of pink rose
buds ami Dutch Iris,
The maid of honor, Miss Barbara
Gilliam, of Columbia, sister o{ the
bride, wore powder blue crepe with
white accessories and she carried an
arm bouquet of pink snapdragons and
blue delphinium,
Mrs. Cooley, grandmother of the
bride, wore soldier blue and her
shoulder corsage was of talisman
roses.
The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. K.
K. Holland, wore dark blue and her
corsage was of pink roses and valley
lilies.
Immediately following the ceremony,
an Informal reception was
given by the bride's graudparents. The
diping room wag decorated with
sprlug flowers In pastel colors. The
dining room table from which puuuh
was served, was covered with a pretty
lace cloth and Mrs. Henry Drown
of Georgetown presided* at the puuoh
bowl, Also serving were Mrs. George
Chewnlng, Mrs. A. A. lleasonovor,
Misses Grace Khoden, Betty Holland,
Jane Trantham, Jeannie James, and
Frances Shaw.
Mrs. Ogburn Is the daughter of
Mrs. Pauline Hatfield Gilliam of Hollywood.
California, and Clyde Gilliam
of Columbia. She is a graduate of
the Camden high school, having made
her home for years with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Cooley, Since

Father Hears From 8on
Hansom A. Jackson, ,R. F. D. Lugofr,
who got a wire from the war
department April 1, stating that his
son, I<eroy Otis Jackson, an appientice
seaman, was among those missing
from a ship recently sunk Iiuh
heard from.his son. Leroy Otis Jackson
was sent to a school when his
ship sailed hence he was not aboard
when it wns sent to the bottom and
we understand that most "Of fhdse ?aboard
were rescued and have reached
port.
