Gave Bridge Luncheon
Mrs. W. L. DePass, Sr., gave a lovely
bridge luncheon Wednesday morning
for members of her club. The
party was given at the home of Mrs.
Lambert ^DePass who assisted the
hostess in entertaining. Also Invited
to play bridge with the club members
were Mrs. Willie DePass and Mrs.
Lucas, of Columbia, and Mrs. Samuel
Russell.
Hospital Benefit Dance
Mrs. Thomas Ancrum, president of
the Camden hospital auxiliary, announced
last week that the annual
hospital benefit dance will be given
Saturday evening, February 14, at the
Kirkwood hotel. Mrs. Chase has been
appointed ticket chairman and Mrs.
Gertrude Harris, chairman of the
decorations committee. The dance
will begin at 9:30 o'clock and the
Kirkwood Orchestra will play.
Bridge Tournament
A Valentine bridge tournament
will be held Friday, February 13, at
S:30 at Grace church parish house,
corner of Lyttleton and Laurens
streets. This tournament is sponsored
by the auxiliary of Grace church.
Tickets will be on sale at 50 cents
per person at the Woman's Exchange

Had Benefit Bridge Tournament
One of the nicest social events of
the winter season was the large
bridge tournament sponsored by the
Junior Welfare League Thursday afternoon
for the benefit of the American
Red Cross. The tournament was
held at Sarsfleld Club, which was donated
for the event by the inanige.

for tea. Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Jr., president
of the League, acted as general
chairman of the tournament committee,
and she was assisted at the club

door prize were books9 of defense
stamps and these were won by Mrs.
T. Lee Little, Mrs. Thomas Girdler

appointed tea table from which
refreshments were served by the
members of the Junior Welfare
League.

Miss Mary Virginia Pate, of State
Park, S. C., became the bride of
LeRoy Nell Branham, of Camden,
S. C.,?at 8:00 o'clock on Saturday
evening, January 31, at the Methodist
parsonage in Camden, with the
Rev. Henry' Collins officiating. The
ceremony was witnessed by members
of the immediate families and a few
close friends. The bride wore a powder
blue suit with black accessories
and a corsage of Talisman roses.

the late R. L. Pate and Mattle Mosley
Pate, of Camden. For the past
several years she has been employed
in the X-ray department and post
office at State Park.

It looks like Camden might come
up with a new wrinkle In Home
Quard unit. That Is, it will be a new
wrinkle as best we can find out.
The wrinkle would be a cavalry
unit, and don't say it isn't more than
|ust a possibility.
As a nucleus- the Unit would have
some of the hardest?and best?ridars
in the country, among them Cyril
Harrison, coach of the Camden Polo
2lub, Carl Ltghtfoot, Moultrie Burns,
Jim Clyburn, C. P. DuBose, Jr., and
Kirby Tupper, all members of both
the Home Guard and thp polo club,

W- Perry Brandenburg resigned his
position as teacher of mathematics
