flee but was caught by officer Russell.

Bowen was rushed to the hospital in

ions were necessary. His condition,
flj according to the attending physicians,
8 is critical. Shannon has been placed
8 in the Kershaw County jail.
According to Chief of Police Alva
Rush, the attack by Shannon upon
v Bowen was unprovoked.

Mrs. Burthy Catoe, fifty-three
years of age and wife of a Kershaw
county farmer residing six miles from
Kershaw on the Flat Rock Road, is to
be awarded a Four-Star emblem of
honor pin, presented by the Emblem
of Honor Association of America.
This-Four-Star emblem of honor
award is made bj^'the National Association
to mothers having four sons in
the United States army.
Mrs. Catoe in addition to having ;
four sons in the service of their country,
also has two daughters, the wlvfes
8 of enlisted men, both of these women
w being employed in the post laundry at
8 Fort Bragg.
||| Mrs, Catoe was born in Lancaster
county but has resided on the Catoe
^ farm in Kershaw county for many
^ years. She is the mother of ten chil|
dren.
