I CAMDEN MAN MARRIES IN DURHAM Of interest to many Carolinians is the announcement of the marriage of Miss Louise Shaw to John Kennedy DuBose which took place at St. Phillips Kpiscppal Chruch, Durham, North Carolina, at high noon on October 11; the Rev. Howard Harper officiating. Charles P. DuBose, Jr. attended his brother as best man. Mrs. DuBose is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George Shaw of Dallas, Texas. She was graduated from the (/Diversity of Michigan and did graduate work at the Tulane School of Social Work, of New Orleans, and at the University of North Carolina. John DuBose is the son of Mr. Charles Perkins DuBose of Camden and the late Flora Kennedy DuBose, and is the grandson of the late General John Doby Kennedy. He attended the Augusta Military Academy in ! Virginia and Presbyterian College at Clinton. Attending the wedding were Mrs. George Shaw, mother of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. DuBose of Camden; ( the Rev. and Mrs. Howard Harper of the Plains, Virginia; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Singleton, of Columbia; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Entertained Club Mr. and Mrs. Dan Mackey entertaiued for the club of which they are members Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Jr. Flowers from Mrs. Nettle's garden were arrunged in Vases about the rooms and after the game sandwiches, chokies aud coffee were served, The (two highest scores were made by Mrs. J. E. McKalu and Mr. Mackey. Mrs, Trotter Was Hostess, Mrs. Kirkland Trotter was hostess to the members of her bridge club at her home on Lyttleton Street Thursday afternoon and she also included J in her guest list, Mrs. Barnwell Clarkson, Miss Minette Boykiu and Mrs. Mortim&t* Muller, Mrs. Trotter was assisted by " her aunt, Mrs. Snowden in serving refreshments at the conclusion of the game. Sixteen guests were present at this delightful affair. Entertained Club ^ Thursday afternoon, at her home on Green Street, Mrs. J. E. McKain entertained for the club of which she Is a member. Several additional guests were also invited to play, including, the hostess' sister, Mrs. Tommy Reynolds, who recently moved to Camden; Mrs. Ike Jones, Mrs. W. R. Fahrs, and Mrs. Richard Kirk. At the conclusion of the games, prizeB were awarded, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Fahrs for making the two highest scores, and the hostess then served a delicious salad course. Had Halloween Party Johnny Muller, the son of Mr. and and Mrs. Mortimer Muller, was hoBt at a delightful Hallow'een party, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The party was in honor of Johnny's sixth birthday, and 25 of his young friends were invited to celebrate with him. Games were played on the lawn, after which refreshments were served in the dining room from a table having Hallow'een decorations and favors. Encircling the birthday cake in the cejiter of the table, were small yellow pumpkins filled with candy. Atkinson?Loo Of interest to their friends in Camden and elsewhere in the state, is the announcement of the marriage of Mrs. Isabel Atkinson, of Camden, add Raymond Lee, of Williamsburg, Va. The wedding was performed in Bishopville, by the Rev. John Llttlejohu, pastor of the Baptist Church, Saturday afternoon, October 11, at 2:30 o'clock. Only the immediate family and a few close friends .were present. The bride wore a navy blue ensemble, with navy accessories and a corsage of bride's roses. After their wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Lee will go to Williamsburg, where they are to make their home. Mrs. Lee is the daughter of Mrs. K. S. Hinson, of St. Charles, S. C. "Bill" Alexander, formerly of Camden, but now of DeLand, Florida, wore glad to soo him hero for a visit tfcis week. Mr. Alexander was a most popular citizen and has a host of friends here. He was enroute to his old home In Charlotto for a visit. Accompanying him was W. O. Lahraus, who is the secretary of the chamber of commerece at DeLand. Compliment Officer's Wives The wives of the Officers of the Public Relations Division of the First Army, wej;e honored with a lovely tea Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 to 6 o'clock at Sarsfleld Club by the ladies of four of Camden's bridge clubs, two of which meet Wednesday afternoon, and the other two Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Other guest9 invited to the tea included the wives of the Instructors and officials at the Southern Aviation School, and the wives of army men who are now living In Camden. For the occasion, the club rooms were attractively decorated with fali flowers and foliage and music was furnished by the club orchestra. In the receiving line were: Mrs. Douglas Boykln, Mrs. Ruben Pitts, Sr., Mrs. Jack Whltaker, Jr., Mrs. Robert Marye, and Mra. H. G. Garrison. McKain and Mrs. G. H. Buurn as co-hostesseB. Mrs. Carlton B. Smith, of Hartford, N. H., daughter of Mrs. Marvin was a guest at the meeting. Miss Helen Hurman, Mrs. Marvin and Mrs. McKaiq were olected delegates to the annual meeting of the Garden Club of South Carolina which will be held in Columbia, November 6 and 7. Mrs. Warren H. Her corsage was of Talisman roses. Immediately after the ceremony tlie couple left for an extended trip thru points of interest in Florida. She receivi^l her education at Central high school and a business school In Columbia. Since that time she has hold a government position In Bishopvlllo und Columbia. Mr. McCasklll is the son of Mr. and^ Mrs. T. P. McCasklll, of Camden. He received his education at Central high school and Manufacturer's School, at Philadelphia, Pa.
