I - ? m I. , Junior?Senior Banquet Juniors of the Camden hifeb school were hosts to the seniors Friday rvciiing whou the annual junior.smlor banquet was held In the high school gymnasium. The banquet Is always a highlight of the social activities of the year, and at this event, i lie queen and king of the high school are selected. The honor went this year to Mlas "Caroline Boykin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Deas H/oykin and to Wallace Hector/ A patriotic theme was carried outk. in i lie decorations of the hall, and\&' the table appointments. Small pine trees were placed against the side walls, and across the celing was a canopy of red, white and blue streamers. Before .dinner was served, the king and queen entered the hall with their court ancT ascended the steps leading to the throne. A screen of white formed a background for the throne at the south end of the hall ( and this was beautifully decorated with sniilax and a small spray of red roses.. Red roBes were also In two floor baskets on either sjde of the throne. Miss"* Boykin was crowned by Charles McCasklll, -president of the senior class.. Maids in the court and their escorts' were the > following: Miss Nadlne Rabon and - Edward Ogburn; Carolyn Linder anc^ Billy Smith; Betty Lewis and Dargan Jennings; Frances Moneyham and Ed Levelte; and Miss Margaret Cox, the maid of honor .and K. T. Price. Camille Forte, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mannle Fort was the flower girl and Lachlcotte Zemp, the crown bearer. Miss Boykin wore a becoming dress of white net having a very lull skirt and a short fitted*Jacket. Her flowers were an arm bouquet of white Snapdragons. The banquet was served by girls of the sophomore class, dressed in sailor dresses of white trimmed In the red white and blue braifS. - The table decorations featured red, white and blue flowers; miniature Uncle Sam hats for place cards, napkins In the same colors, and tiny American flags which were placed In each'plate of red, white and blue block Ice cream. - Clemson Honor 8tudents The following Kershaw county boys were on the honor list of Clemson students for the first semester: Richard Edward Gettyg, of Lugoff;, John Gardner Richards, 4th; William Raleigh Marsh, Joseph Burns Rhame, of Camden; A. McCarty gave a protty bridge party at her home Thuraday arteruoun. her guests Including the members of her club aud, Mrs, Clarkson Rhatne, Mrs. John Davidson and Miss Faith de Loach. The high score prise was won by Mrs. DeLoache Sheorn and at the conclusion of the game a sweet course and coffee were' served. Entertalihs at Brdlge < Friday afternoon, Mrs. Charles DeLbache entertained with a bridge party for the members of her club. The only additonal player was Mrs. Tony Fanning, of Orangeburg, who was visiting her sister, Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Jr. At'this lovely party the score prise was won by Mrs. Joe McKaln. Mrs. DeLoache was assisted in entertaining by hpr sister Mrs. Paul Duffer, and her mother, Mrs. John.Goodale. Buffet Supper Captain and Mrs. Harrington Yates entertained with a buffet supper for thirty guests, Saturday evening at their homo on North Broad fltreftt. The party was given in honor of Mrs. Yate's brother Howard Etters, of Lancaster, and Miss Abble Sue Stokes, of Westvllle, who are to be married June 19 in Kershaw. The house was beautifully decorated with flowers and Jn the dining room a color scheme of bridal green and white was used. The centerpiece was a silver bowl of white roses and the candles were white in silver candlelabra. The guests were seated at [ small tables, arranged in the living | room and den. Mrs. Yates was assisted in entertaining by Miss Ethel Yates and Miss Lillian Yates. Out ^-ef-town guests attending the party were: Miss Carolyn Croxton and Miss Carolyn Perry, of Kershaw; Miss Christine Williams, of Lancaster; Bart Witherspoon and Jack McManus, of Camp' Stewart, Ga., and Colonel Hydrlck, 'of Fort Jackson. After the supper, the party attended the dance at Sarsfleld Club. Legion Auxiliary Notes The May meting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held last Friday at the home of Mrs. Jotyn Mullen. Mrs. J. R. Belk was assistant hostess. After all reports, *hnd other business was transacted, Mrs. Beige read a paper urging the establishment of ? fund toward the erection "of a memorial to all World War soldiers, at" some future date. She made a contrlbuiton to the fund and It was decided to add to this fund by giving $10 and from time to time the Auxiliary will increase this by giving benefits for raising money in other ways. A paper was read by Mrs. Mullen on South America, Its customs and that the people of the United States should come to a better and more friendly understanding of them. Major A, M. Brallsford was gueBt speaker and he also gave a talk on "Our Good Will policy Towards Our Neighbors to the South." Valuable .information was given, which . the auxiliary members-appreciated. The hostesses served delicious refreshments from a table having a beautiful centerpiece of roses. Mother's Day Tea An outstanding social ovont of tho work was the annul Mother's Day Tea given by members of the Junior Welfare League, Monday afternoon at tho home of Mrs. John Mullen. The tea Is always a lovely affair and Mrs. Koland Goodale and her committees contributed In muklng this a very enJoyabJe one. Mrs. Goodale Is president of the league, and she and Mrs. Mullen roeelved at tho front door. ' Mrs. John Davidson and Mrs. Dan Mackey presided at the punch bowls in the dining room where the table had an artistic centerpiece of pink cnrnatlons, daisies, and blue delphinium, and pink and blue candles. Other members of the league assisted in serving refreshments. In addition to Mrs. Ooodale, other officers Include Mrs. R. E. McCarty, vice president; Mrs. Alexander Clarkson, Jr., treasurer; Mrs. Boy kin Rhaiqe, recording secretary; and MrB. Charles DoLoache, corresponding secretary. Mrs. Shannon Entertains Mrs. William Shannon entertained with a pretty bridge luncheon Wed- nesduy morning at her home at ?Boykln. The gueBts were members of the hostess* club, Mrs. H. O. Marvin, Mrs. Barnwell Clarkson and Mrs. John deLoach.
