Stella Bothuno entertained the
bachelor teachers of the liethune
sciiool Monday afternoon with a trip
to the lovoy Kalinin Garden In
llartavllie, which ia now at its peak
with a riot of varicolored azaleas.
After a stroll through this beautiful
garden a picnic lunch was served at
Moegars Mill. Other gueata present
were Misses Mary Arthur and Mury
McKlnnon.
An operetta, "The Sleeping Beauty",
will be presented Friday evnlng, May
!>, at 8 o'clock, by the children of the
grammar school, dust before the
opereltii the rhythm bund, which has
pluyod on aoveral occasions, will give
a program.

Section 3 provides: "That the sheriff
shall receive in addition to his regular
salary ills necessary expensos
and 5 cents per mile In going to and
returning when called beyond the limits
of the county on official business.
He shall receive also 35 cents per day
for dieting each prisoner while such
prisoner is detained In the county Jail
or otherwise in his custody He shall
also receive 25 cents for each commitment
and for each discharge ot his
prisoners.
The salaries hereinabove provided
to be paid county officers is to be in
lieu of all fees, costs, and shall be
turned over by them each month to
the county treasurer to be kept by
him in a seperate account designated
as "Free Textbook Fund." The fees
and costs to be charged under this
act shall be the same as are now prescribed
by law. The above officers'
snlary shall be paid monthly by the
'county treasurer.
All magistrate's rtnes received by
the county treasurer shall be placed
to the credit of the "Free Textbook
Ftipd."
S-'The county board of directors is authorized
to spend $10,000 of the cash
surplus on hand for purpose of buying
road machinery for the county and
the board of directors Is authorized
to spend $3,000 of the cash surplus on
hand for matching the city's portion
for enlarging the Woodward airport
for national defense.
Section 7?If circumstances arise In
which the judgment of the delegation
or a majority thereof, require the ex-[
pendlture of the above amount for
purposes not mentioned In this act,
the said delegation shall have the
right by resolution to increase the
amount appropriated for any item,
and may also appropriate funds for
purposes not mentioned or referred
to in this act, which resolution shall
be filed with the board of county di-,
rectors as their authority for expending
funds thus appropriated, if neocessary,
such amount may be required
to meet such increase or additional
appropriations.
In case of any portion qr provision
of this act shall be held unconstitutional
or ineffective by a court of competent
jurisdiction the validity of the
remaininlne portions shall be and remain
in full force and effect.
