Bible Class Held Meeting I ho March meeting of the Aleathehn Bible class was held Friday evening The program was opened with tin' assembly singing "Stand Up For .Jesus". Mrs. C. W. Sinclair accom* panyiug on the piano. The meeting was ihen turned over to a group in charge. Mrs. T. C. Gladden gave the devotional and prayer was olTored by Mrs G. J. Mitchell. A brief business session wtvs held and the following officers were elector Mrs. L. C. Gladden, teacher; Mrs Alva ilush, president; Mrs. Walt?*r Gaskln and Mrs. D. J. Mahoney captains for white 'groups; Mrs. John J.-uney and Mrs. S. C. Black well, captains for green groups; 'Mrs. Lottie Uuckabee to assist Mrs. Walter Gaskin as social chairman. The meeting was turned over to Mrs Walter Gaskln, social chairman. Games and contests added to the merriment of th? evening. Sandwiches and cakes were eerved by the1 hostess. Those serving were Mrs. Alva Rush and Mrs. Walter Gaskln assisted "by Mrs. Hoyt Rush. Rotary Club Notes Thursday's Rotary meeting was featured by a speech of Joseph L.. Nettles. president of the South Carolina Bar Association, and biographical alks by Robert M. Campbell, C. J. Ewing, and Frank Hulse, all new nembers of the Club. Mr. Nettles told of the work of the tar Association In assisting with the draft and he paid tribute to Governor Burnet R. Maybank in having one ?t the finest draft organizations in America. Mr. Nettles is here to preside over the South Carolina Bar Association, now meeting at the Kirkwood Hotel. x Jack Mullen had charge of the meeting. A report was given tliut twenty-four had been distributed hi, school rooms In the city, along with copies of "Code to the Flag". Other copies of "Code to the Flag" will be given those rooms not already having them. Essays on National Defense written by students of Junior and Senior high schols, are now being Judged and prizes are to be awarded for the two best of these. Mrs. Marvin Reasonover, chairman of the Child Welfare committee, was In charge of the -program nad after giving an outline of items in the Monthly Bulletin on Child Welfare, she introduced the speaker, Mrs. Kathleen Watts, Superintendent of Education of Kershaw county. Mrs. Watts spoke briefly on Child Welfare Work in the city and and Senior high schools, are now being refreshments were served In the dining room by the hostesses. Mri. Tobln Hostess Mrs. Leon Tobln was hostess at a pretty bridge party Wednesday afternoon, when she entertained the members of her club, and Mrs. A. C. Brab-* ham and Mrs W. C. MoCarley. After the game a salad course and coffee were served and the prizes awarded Mrs. James Gandy and Mrs. Marlon Williams. Marriage Announced Of Interest to their friends in Camden and elsewhere in the state, are the announcements which are being received of the marriage of Miss Frances Leslie McLeod and Phillip Fairey Griffith, of St. Matthew, 9. C. The wedding took place In Charleston, January 6th. ? V Mrs. Griffith Is the daughter of Mrs. Eben J. McLeod, of Camden. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she took a prominent part in various campus activities. She was a member of Alpha Delta PI Sorority and while at the University made her debut at the Assembly Ball. Since her graduation she has been a member of the St. Matthews High School Faculty. Mr. Griffith is the son of Mrs. B. C. Banks, of St. Matthews. He is now connected with Birely's Bottling company, of St. Matthews, in which he has an interest. Many Parties For Miss Little Social activities during the past week have centered around the wedc.llng of Miss Ellen Little and William Dolxmcho Nettles, which takes place in tiethesda Presbyterian Church, Friday evening, and parties continue in honor of the brkltveloct up to the day of the wedding. Mrs. G. T. Little and Mia. Ralph Little, of Sumter, gave a brldgo party for Miss Little and a dozen of her friends Saturday afternon at the homo of the former. The house was docorated with garden flowers and a corsago of carnations marked the place of the honor guest. The prizes were won by Mrs. Wtlllaaii C. Hough, of Cheraw; Mrs. Davis Green, of Sumter, Mrs. R. E. Stevnson, and Miss Little received a beau: tlful gift from the hostesses. The players were Joined, for refreshments later in the afternoon by Mrs. John T. Nettles, Mrs. C. H. Gruver and Mrs. A. 8. Davidson. i Miss Louise McLeod entertianed in honor of Miss Little Monday evening. Guests were invited for three tables of bridge and a number of others for refreshments after the game. These included: Mrs. T. Lee Little, Mrs. C. H. Gruver, Mrs. Elliot Sheorn, Mrs. Willis Sheorn, Mrs. John T. Nettles, and Mrs. Robin Zemp. Miss Little received a gift of crystal at this lovely party and the score prizes were won by Miss Nancy WattH and Miss I>aura Moseley. Another /pretty 'bridge parky was given for Miss Little Monday afternoon when Mrs. R. E. Stevenson and her daughter, Mrs. Lane Woodcock, entertained at the home of Mrs. Stevenson. Four tables were arranged for the guests in a setting of spring flowers and an attractive nosegay of vegetables marked the place of the honor guest.
