The program was opened-' with the song. "Stand Up For Jesus", Mrs. C. YV. Sinclair accompanying on the piano Mrs. G. J. Mitchell read the scripture and offered prayer. The thought of the evening was "how we could have a better class," which was brought to us by the president, Mrs. T. C. Gladden. A short business meeting was held. Games were played, after which a delightful salad course was served. Those serving wore Mrs. C. O. Stogner and Mrs. Ed Holland, assisted thy Mrs. J. B, Gaston. Hut the group reckoned not with the elements for snow and Icy highways combined to slow up progress and It waa 5.45 a. m. when the door boll at the Arnett home betokened the arrival of the party. With Vogel and Miss Townsond were Vogel's mother and Raymond M. Hlggins. prominent New Yorker. They wore present when Judge Arnett performed the marriage ceremony, , Following the wedding the grcirp went to Kirkwood hotel where thev remained until Saturday when tney I motored back to WashingtoiL Sunday the newly weds left Washington on a trip to Florida. They plan on returning to Camden for the Carolina cup races. ! She attended the Holton Arms school in Washington. The groom, who gave his age us 22 is a graduate of Eton college in England. graduate of Choate school and j attended Princeton university. His , father, the late Martin Vogel was assistant secretary of the teasury during the Wilson administration. Mr. Vogel has a string of horses and during the recent Virginian's horse show here he won three blues and three reds with his entries in the various classes. Engagement Announced The engagement of Miss Carolvn Spann Cantey, of Charlotte and am, <3n. and John I^nd. of Gastonia. was announced at a lovely luncheon given Raturdav by Miss Cantey's mother. Mis. Helton O. Boykin. The luncheon was given nt Mrs. Boykin's home on Garrison street and for the occasion, the rooms were decorated with spring flowers and flowering shrubs. Covers were set at small tables for twenty guests. The engagement announcement was made on smaircards attach-! ed to old fashioned bouquets of lilies of the valley. Mrs. Boykin was assisted by Mrs. G. E. Taylor and Mrs. James Gandy. Mrs. Wilson served party refreshments in the dining room Celebrates Birthday Mrs, Irving Pearce entertained with a pretty children's party Monday after noon to celebrate the Bth birthday of her daughter Hetty Pearce. Twelve meats were Invited. After playing bingo and other games, refreshments were served in tho dining room where the decorations carried out a pink and white color scheme. Mrs. Goodale Was Hostess . ' A Auxiliary Sponsoring Dance Saturday evening at the Klrkwood Hotel, the Camden Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a dance which will be given in the main dining room. Music will be furnished by the Klrkwood orchestra. Several parties are being planned before the dance and Mrs. Thomas Anerum, president of the Auxiliary, has already received a number of reQuests for table reservations. * .
