Auxiliary Sponsoring Dance
The Camden hospital auxiliary Is
sponsoring a dance at the Klrkwood
hotel, Saturday, March 15. Dancing
will begin at 9 o'clock in the dining
room. Mrs. W. H. Harris, Mrs. J.
Nettles Lindsay and Mrs. C. C. Whitaker,
Jr. are iu charge. Tickets are
being sold $1.00 per person and all
proceeds wlH go to the Camden hospital.
Saturday, March ,15, will also be Tag
Day for the hospital and all are requested
to give what they can for this
worthy cause.

Mrs. Kinky Tupper were the score

Hostess at Bridge
Mrs. Kennedy Blakonoy gave a
lovely bridge party and tea for the
members of her bridge club Wednesday
afternoon at tho Woman's Exchange
Tea Room. Mrs. Harrington
Yates and Mrs. Thomas Ancrum woro
also Invited. At the conclusion of the
game, high more prizes woro awarded
Mrs. I>onatd Morrison and Mrs.
Nettles Lindsay.

Also of interest is tho dance being
given by tho Camden- Hospital Auxiliary,
'Saturday evening, March 15, at
the Kirk wood hotel. Music will be
furnished by the Kirkwood Orchestra.
Mrs. Warren Harris is chairman of
the dance and serving with her on the
dance committee are: Mrs. Nettles
Lindsay, Mrs. C. C. Whitakor, Jr., Mrs.
John Mullen and Mrs. Thomas

Hosts at Dinner Party '
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Jr.,
entertained with a delightful dinner
party for seventeen guests. Sunday
evening at their home on Mill street.
The dining room table, from which
the dinner was served buffet, had a
lovefey centerpiece of yellow Jonquils
and yellow candles in silver holders.
Captain and Mrs. Wright, Lieutenant
Halglln, and Mr. and Mrs. Cornell, all
of whom are connected with the
Training School at the airport, were
among the guests.

Mrs. James M. Gandy gave a lovely
bridge party Wednesday aftemon for

Garden Show To Be Held
Mrs. Reuben Pitts. Sr., president of
the Camden Garden Club, has announced
that tlje date of the Flower
Show has been postponed to Wednesday,
March 19. The show will be
held this year in the Sunday School
building of Bethesda Presbyterian
church. This annual showing has
been unique in the excellence of display
and the individualism portrayed,
and Mrs. Pittp and her committee are
anxious that all persons Interested in
flowers assist in making this event
exceptionally good by entering Individual
exhibits:'
To Have Antique Exhibit
Camden's Spring Season will be
highlilghted by tho Antique Exhibit to
be held at Mulberry Plantation, the
home of Mr. and Mrs. David R. Williams.
Friday afternoon. March 14.
The exhibit is being sponsored by the
Woman's auxiliary of Grace Episcopal
church. Included In the exhibit will
be rare miniatures and beautiful
pieces of silver, glass and china, many
cf.which have survived experience of
historic Interest. Tea will be served
while the exhibit is open from 3:30 to
6 o'clock. Miss Ethel Yates Is chairman
of the committee arranging 'he
exhibit.
Were Joint Hostesses
Miss Louise Ancrum and Miss
Mackey Chase were joint hostesses
Saturday afternoon to the members of
the club which was recently formed
by an attractive group of girls In the
sixth grade of the Camden school. The
meeting was held at the home of Miss
Ancrum and all members were
present with the exception of Miss
Jean Lee. Officers of the club are;
Miss Babs Glover, president; Miss
Yvonne Newklrk, vice president; Miss
Mackey Chase, secretary and Miss
I-ouise Ancrum, treasurer. At the
meeting, the members worked on
scrap books to be given to the Camden
Hospital for the children's ward.
Mrs. Thomas Ancrum assisted the
hostesses in serving refreshments
after tho meeting.

to Camden. Mr. Atoheson Is In the
Industrial Insurance business.
Hen W. Heath, of Milwaukee, Is
spending several weeks with his parents

Hampton street. Mr. Heath has resigned
his position with the Morrison
Advertising agency In Milwaukee to
enter the aviation service of the army.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert IXilap. of Milwaukee,
who were week-end guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Heath left
Monday afternoon for Charleston and
Savannah. Mr. and Mrs. Dolan attended
the Virginians' horse show and
also the Camden-Essex troop polo
game while here.
Ensign Henry G. Carrlson. Jr.. who
has Just graduated from the naval reserve
school in Now York, Is on a
visit to his parents, Mr, and Mrs. H.
G. Carrlson. Henry has been assigned
to the destroyer "Meredith", in the
Boston Navy Yard, where he reports
for duty oh tne 12th.

_ The Oamden Rotariane got an insight
of the airport activities to take
place in Camden with the opening of
the air school on the 22nd of this
month, when Frank Hulse, president
of the airport school told them In a
most Interesting manner the many details.
Mr. Hulse Introduced the many
officials of the school, and told of their
duties. He said that fifty two students
will enroll this month and five
weeks later another fifty-two pupils
will come in Tor the ton wokes advance
work.
The program was In charge of Henry
Savage, who has been most active
in locating the school here and getting
it established von schedule.
Mr. Savage introduced other officials
of the school, whih Included Captain
Roy Wright, Mr. Cornell. Mr. Fish-c
burno, I^aurie Hill, Captain Edelstein,
Lieutenant Henry Huglln.
The visiting Rotarlan was Robert S.
Carmichael and the guest visitors wore
Whllden Woodward of Columbia,

The newspaper business has called
back to active service a distinguished
reservist, George W. Brunson, former
editor and publisher of the Greenville
Dally News, and former partner In a
national advertising agency. Mr.
Brunson broke off from active work
several years ago because ofr Impaired
health, but he Is himself again, and
that means much. The Orangeburg
Observer is the newspaper with which
he Is now associated. Orangeburg is
his home town, to which he returns In
fine and stimulating spirit after more
than 40 years of life In other communities.

BE HELD MARCH 27
The fifth annual I am ton Ihig Show,
muter (he auspices of the Grace
Mptacopal church school, will he hold
on the ohi No. I fairway of the Kirkwood
golf course, Thursday. March 27,
beginning at 3:00 o'clock.
This shew is an Informal event
which attracts a large crowd of sports
people and dog fanciers, who gather
strictly for the sport and fun of the
affair, since the show Is neither
, sanctioned f nor recognised by the
[ American Kennel club.
There will he classes for pointers,
setters, hounds, terriers, spaniels and
Royktn spaniels, wltu Childreu'a and
miscellaneous classes. The proceeds
of the show go entirely to the lain ton
offerings of tho church school
During the show, tea will bp served
on the grounds through the courtesy
of the Klrkwood.
In the event of rain on the 27jh, the
shaw will he postponed until Friday,

An Interesting program has been ar-,
ranged for the celebration of an an-1
uual event in L.vttleton street Methodist
church. Once each year-the morning
service of the ohurch la used to'
set forth the Importance of tho education
work that the church Is doing In
Its weekly church school sessions.
This service Ih at 11:15 a. m.
At tho evening service a motion picture
called "What a Missionary Does
In Africa" will be shown in the
church school auditorium. This is tho
first of a series which will be used at
tho evening services of the church. An
offering will be taken at tills service

on tho film.

AT KERSHAW SCHOOL
The Gle? Club of Furman University
will' appear In the Kershaw hlg'h
school auditorium Tuesday evening,
March 11, at'eight o'clock. The Kershaw
Lions club is sponsoring this entertainment.
The prices of admission
will be 20c for school children and 35c
for all otheirs.
Tho glee club is composed of more
than forty voices. Wherever the club
has appeared throughout this state
and other states a largo and appreciative
audience has received them.
Their appearance offers a real opportunity
for the people of this section to
hear and see an evening of genuine
