Brides Were Complimented__ l>ast Friday evening Misses Sadie Fruit.ig and Jean Mayer entertained with a lovely party and linen ehower at the home of the latter in honor of Mrs. Fred Brown, the former Miss Polly Jennings, a bride of September. Fall flowers decorated the living room and dining room and the bride's chair was marked with a silver 'horse shoe tied with white tulle. Games and contests were enjoyed during the evening. The hostesses presented Mrs. Clyde Brown, the former Miss Wilma Owens, of Westvllle; Mrs. Clyde Boykin, the former Miss Margaret Williams; Mrs. Paul Jordan, the former Miss Doris H'msoiv, all brides of October with presents. The center piece was a bowl of Hallowe'en marigolds and at the ends of the table orange candles burned in black candle holders. Mrs. Brown received many lovely and useful gifts. For Britain Club" During the late spring and summer "Bundles for Britain Clubs" have been formed all over tho country and given hundreds of women an opportunity to do their bit for the brave | British lighters In the lloyal Air Force and tho mine sweepers of the i British navy. Warm clothing is greatjly needed by these men aud each Bundle for Britain contains an yuttlt for one man consisting of a sweater, a muffler, mittens and a helmet. I huso are being knitted by volunteer workers. Recently a Bundles for Britain club wua formed in Camden by Mrs. lames Swords. At u meeting Miss Swords was made president of the olub, Mrs. Samuel Kussell was elected secretary; A. G. Clarkaon. Jr.. treasurer, and Mrs. Kennedy Blakeney, knitting chairman. Through contributions Mrs. Swords has obtained enough money to buy the wool and now a plea is being made for volun-. teer knitters. DeLoache, and Pickens Gantt, of Jefferson. A series of parties complimontingFMlss DeLoache are being planned for the weeks preceding her wedding, andtone of the first of these was given Saturday afternoon by four of her friends, Miss Maggie Trantham, Miss Jane Trantham, Miss Jeannie James, and Miss Jane Campbell. The party, given at the Trantham home, "Thickety Place", was a miscellaneous shower and bridge party to which twenty guests were Invited. The rOoms were gay with bright colored flowers and autumn leaves and a lar^e tulle bow marked the place of the honor guest. Miss Katherine Myers and Miss Frances West won the score prizes. After the game, the player's were asked into the dining room for refreshments and there they were Joined by Mrs. C. D. Cubbage, of Dalzell; Mrs. Robin Zemp; Mrs, John Nettles, Sr., Miss Sarah Sheorn, and Miss Celeste Mumford. Mrs. Benjamin P. DeLoache^ presided at the punch bowl, and sandwiches and cakes were served by the! hostesses. The bride elect received many lovely gifts. Friends of Children Met Members of the Camden chapter of Friends of Children, Inc., met Thursday nuSrning at the home of Mrs. John Wall. The following reports were given by two of the committee chairmen; Mrs. Mortimer Muller reported that thirty yards of serge and tweed had been cut for skirts, which would be completed within the next few weeks, and Mrs. George Branson, knitting chairman reported that 37 sweaters and 5 caps would be shipped to national headquartres November 1, bringing the total number of sweaters knitted during September and October to 105.
