Compliments Bride Mrs. John Lawrence Team, who has recently come to Camden as a bride, was given a lovely party Saturday afternoon by Mrs. E. J. McLood at her home on Fair stroet. The party rooms were decorated entirely with yellow calendular and yellow candles and there were guests for seven tables. After the game, In which the prizes were won by Mrs. l^unbert DePass and Mrs. C. H. Zenip, the players were joined by Mrs. J. R. Montgomery, Mrs. Jumes Burns and Mrs. Loula Kelly. Mrs. John Rauch assisted in serving refreshments. As a souvenir juf the occasion, Mrs. Team received an attractive gift from the hostess. v I Legion Auxiliary Notes i The February meeting of the American Legion auxiliary was heltf Friday at home of Mrs. Carl West. Mrs. John Mullen president of the auxiliary presided and the program was in charge of Mrs. R. E. Chewning, who read a paper on George and Martha Washington. Papers were also read on Washington and Lincoln by Mi^s Frances West and Miss Margaret Cox. The speaker was C. A. Farrish, of Columbia. state Inspector of dairies-and restaurants. After a beautiful violin solo by Newell Wimberly, accompa-, tiled by Mrs. James Gandy, the guests j were Invited into the dining room fori refreshments. The hostess was as-! sisted by Mrs. J. L. Willlford. Entertained at Bridge ' Mrs. Hubert Wilson entertained at a bridge paxty Monday afternoon and the guests were Mrs. A. C. Bradbam, Mrs. E. J. McLeod, Mrs. John Rauch, Mrs. Hughey Tindal, Mrs. Roland Goodale, Mrs . Brevard Boykln, and the members of the hostess club. The Valentine motif was carried out in the party decorations and refreshments. Mrs. James Gandy and Mrs. John Rauch were the score prize winners and Mrs. Tindal cut the consolation prize. A salad course and coffee were served after the game. Was Bridge Hostess Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Brevard Boykin was hostess to the members of her bridge* club. Additional guests were Mrs. Davis Green. Mrs. Elliott Sheorn and Mrs. Hubert Wilson. Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Lee Little and Mrs. Dess Goodale were the highest scorers in the bridge game. Frank Johnson, colored, ago 35. of medium build, height 6.1. weighing about 160 pounds and with brown eyes - giving his home as being Tampa, Flu ; and Fi nest Johnson, age 28. of stocky build. weighing 187. height 6.1, a mulatto and having brown eyes, are the two in custody. They had in their possession a Plymouth car of the 1986 model, this car being registered ub belonging to Eva Carter. 1416 Twlgg street, Augusta, (la.- A bill of sale from an Augusta auto.dealer showed the car was purchased on February 9, on an installment basis. The two Johnson's claim Eva Carter Is a girl friend of theirs. Police broke up the swindle racket the two Johnson's are allegod to have tried to work on Homer* Green, a local negro. Accordiug to the pot lee version, one of the Johnson's met Grpen In Hampton Park on Monday and engaged him in conversation. The other Johnson walked by and dropped a pocketbook In passing. The Johnson with Green picked up the pocketbook and opened it and displayed what the police assert was a fake $100 bill. He then offered to divide the money with Green, but suld Green would have to give him $50 and take the $100 bill/ At this tifne-the police stepped in. According to Chief Rush, there have been reports of this form of swindle being worked in many places in tho state and In neighboring states. Tlmrod Club News The Tlmrod Home Demonstration! club held Its Christmas meeting. December 22, at the school house with' about twenty-five present. Tho meet-, ing was opened by Miss Juanita Wat-! kins reading the devotional. After the! ceyotional period a delightful Christmas program was.given, including the| singing of Christmas carols by everybody. Those contributing to the program were Misses Hope Newman, Jay, Blackmon and Joyce Munn. An in-( teresting Christmas story for the little folks was given by Miss Elizabeth Munn. ?fter the program everyone received gifts from the beautiful Christmas tree. Fruits and candles were served by the club. , . Celebrated 8econd Anniversary A delightful party was given Monday evening by Mrs. Jack Nettles for the Business Women's Circle of the Methodist church. The party was given at the home of Mrs. John T. Nettles. Sr., and the occasion was tho second anniversary of the organization. In the absence of the leader, Mrs Kathleen Watts, Mrs Nettles presided and later Introduced tho speaker. Mrs. N. C. Arnett. Twenty members were present and at the conclusion of the meeting the guests were served from a prettily appointed table. The cakes and sandwiches were m made In the shape of hearts and red hearts were molded Into tho Ice cream. Tho hostess' grandmother, Mrs. M. J. Wit ten. of Blue Field, W. Va., was a guest. Mrs. William Bates and Mrs. I^ambert DePass made the two highest scores and after the game the party attended the Valentine tea at the Woman's Exchange Tea Room. He was a native of Camden, the son of Col. and Mrs Will lain Anerutn Mr. Anerutn was with the Soil Conservation Service at the time of his death For a number of years he was eonneeted with the Loan and lOxchange Hank of .Columbia.
