Alert Officers Are
Given Testimonial
And Santa ClauH came to the home
of Dallas Mahoney and Elmer Nolan,
members of the Camden police department.
And this Santa Cinua was none
other than Henry S. Porter, agriculturist,
whoso barns, stock and equipment
was wiped out In one of the1
most disastrous fires in the rural sections
in years.
Tuesday morning's mail brought of-:
fleers Mahoney and Nolan a Une letter
from a real sportsman and gentleman,
the letter to each enclosing a J
crisp new $5 bill. The letter wa8|
from Mr. Porter and extended to the,
officers the sincere appreciation of
the writer for their service in uwakonlng
ills family when they discovered
the fire when over four miles
away.
And the mail also brought a fine
letter of appreciation to Police Commissioner
Charles Shannon, 4th, Mr.
I
Porter expressing his thanks for the
service rendered by Commissioner,
Shannon's wideawake and alert officers.
And our own humble observation is
that Henry Porter proved himself a
gentleman and a sportsman in demonstrating
that despite the blow dealt
hint by the fire fiend, he was determined
to express his appreciation in
a manner that the two officers would
best appreciate.
And to the Camden police department.
an expression of pleasure that
they were on the job.
