Church Circle Entertains
In a lovely setting of daffodils and
other spring flowers the Business Women's
circle of Bethesda Presbyterian
church gave an unusually pretty party
Tuesday evening when they entertained
about fifty-guests at the home

was the showing of several
sound reels depicting the homelife
of d family in Japan. This was
conducted by J. G. Richards. Jr.
In the dining room a color motif of
red and white was used. An arrangement
of Pyrus japonicas and white
lightod tapers in crystal candelabra
centered the table. Red carnations
and burning oandles were used 011
the buffet and mantle. Mrs. John Dev
ine served punch and others assisting
in serving cakes, sandwiches and
mints were Miss Mary Richey, Miss
Nancy Nelson, Mrs. Henry Niles, Mrs.
Edna Team, Miss Harriet Nelson,
Miss Drue Baxley and Miss Laura

Mrs. R. B. Clarkson invited a number
of additional guests when she entertained
her bridge club at her home
Friday afternoon. Fragrant spring

Birthday Party Given
A birthday party was given In honor
of Ruby Brunson, Friday night, February
17. Besides .the Malvern Hill
Older Youth club, a number of friends
were also Invited. A geography contest
was given and the following were
winners: Norma ?a$cer, Sybil Robinson,
Neta Godwin, t)ora Robinson, Annie
Mae Godwin and Martha Bruce.
A matching contest was also given,
the* winners beinf^ Ted Dabney. Everyone
took part .in the games and enJoyed
playing them. Raby received
many useful gifts from her friends,
some of being, lotions, socks,
handkerchiefs; candy and other nice
gifts. We were then invited into the
dining, room and were served delicious
refreshments, consisting of
punch anA crackers, which was enJoyed
by ml.

Virginians' horse show and the Huntor
trials are matters of history,
thoughts are centered on the twentyninth
annual Camden horse show to
be held on Friday and Saturday,
March 10 and 11, and the Carolina
Cup steeplechase classic on Saturday,
April 1.

house of representatives today passed

school children enjoyed a party at the
Lugoff school, Tuesday evening, Feb.
14. All Joined in the playing of games,
contests, Valentine candy walk and
were entertained by stunts given by
John Arledge and Albert Rabon of
the Lugoff school. Miss Eunice Jordan
was elected "Miss Valentine."
Drinks and sandwiches were sold
for tfie benefit of the school lunch
