\s aw formed in 1U33 for tho purpose
of currying on the ideal* of the Amurlcun
Legion Several years.ago, a
squadron was attempted by the American
Legion Post here, but It wus
not until the December meetiitK of
1938 of the Amelcan Legion that
much consideration was taken. At
the joint meetinK of fathers and sons
on January 9 of this presenj year, an
advisory board was appointed, consisting
of Murvln M, UoaaohcWer, adjutant
of Post 17, W. S. Heath and P.
K. Langston, who promptly set to
work to organise a local squadron.
These advisers selected Jlmmie Little,
chairman; David Wolfe Wallnuu;!
Jack lteese, Kugene Campbell and
William Koasonover as members of
an organisation committee to aid
them in their work.
Meetings were held on January 21
and 27 of the*eliglble members of the
proposed squadron, and on the latter
date, an application for a charter,
signed by Commander Carl A. West,
of the Iaigion Post No. 17, was sent
to detachment headquarters. The
charter arrived on February 10, aiu|
therefore, the official meeting of thb
new squadron was held on Februray
16.
The advisory board will continue to
assist the squadron in aU problems
and have plunned many iictlvitles for
the Sons of the Iajgion. Tho local Legion
Post will also give to the squadron
their Hag and a United States
flag.

Clifford Catoe and Miss Ann Redman.
Miss Sue Hilton spent the week
end with Miss Dorothy Cleo Elliott,

the birth of a son, Thomas
Newton, Thursday, February 9, at the
Camden hospital.
Miss Evelyn Elliott was hostess at
a delightful party at her home Saturday
evening. Spring flowers were
used to brighten the rooms where the
guests were entertained with games
and contests. Miss Dorothy Elliott,
Pauline Catoe and Otis Elliott added
to tho pleasure of tho evening by contributing
a group of popular songs.
