One of the Charleston sport writers
stepped off I tie deep and when ho
suggested The Citadel as the state
grid champions. If the Cadets are
stale champs, then the Camden Bulldogs
are going to the Hose Bowl.
Not, but wtiat The Citadel has one
sweet team But we can hardly give
the Cadets preference over Cleinsou
or even the South Carolina Gamecocks.
# ?
The Columbia highs looked mighty
good In action against GafTney last
Saturday night But, wo still pi" our
hopes on the Bulldogs to take them
on November 11
?
Whoever la putting out the publicity
over at Myrtle Beach should
hire o.it as a street sweeper. That
bird sure puts over the slrangeBt coneoctions
wo have ever read. His latest

Now 1 ask you?what would be the
latest lighting effects on a damsel?

A dip into baseball. "Poosh-'em-upTony"

a major league managerial position
But If a pilot's Job is not forthcoming,
Tony may return to the Cubs. aayS|
Owner Wrigley. Tony is dickering
with the St. Ixrnis Cards, St Louis
Browns and the Detroit ligets.
#
That certainly was a swell sporting
gesture by the Carnegie Tech coach
and players when they wired Referee
John Getchell to "forget the mistake
In Saturday's Notre Dame game".
"Reports of my comments on you
personally, very much exaggerated
wired coach Billy Kern.
Have you been bike riding yet. If
not, why not? "Everybody's doln' It."
? ? * *
I almost ran Into a light post the.
ether noon when I came upon two
I dignified Camden matrons peddling
valiantly along the main drag.
*
Reminded me of the days when I
was a young chap on a bike and used
to wheel down the wooden pavement
whistling "Come Josephine, On My
Flying Machine",
Apropos of that Carolina-Villa Nova
game at Orangeburg ?as Just another
argument against those county fair
events?listeners on the air got a big
laugh when the broadcaster of the
game announced that the Villa Nova
team had to use a church for dressing
quarters. I'll bet those Villa Nova
lads went away with a comical slant
on South Carolina football.
Orchids to Rex Enrlght. We still
believe in the Carolina grid mentor
and feel that if he Is given free rein
with the football situation at the
Gamecock school, South Carolina will
have a team to be proud of. The boys
certainly strutted their stuff in a
vastly improved manner in the Villa
Nova tilt.
?
The more we see of the football
playgrounds in other towns around |
about, the better satisfied we are with
our own tine stadium.
Again did the L R O C. H. turn]
out strong for an away-from-home |
home game. That galaxy of alphabet j
characters when unwound means
"Loyal Rooters of Camden High."
Chester had some cause to do some
crowing. It was the first conference
team to cross the Bulldog goal line.
The record of the Bullodgs to date
is something to brag about. Eight
games, all on the win side of the ledger,
and a total of 249 points scored
as against 19 registered by opponents.
Only one conference team has crossed
the Camden goal, that being Chester.
Mt. Airy and Whiteville both from
North Carolina, were the other teams
to single step over the Camden marker.
All things being equal and by
that we mean?fair and competent
officials and an even Stephen on the
breaks, Camden is going to trim
at least that is our pronosia.
I
Such being the case, what about the
November 18 and November 24 dates.
Sure, we'd all like to see the Bulldogs
in action on the home lot on those
dates?but wonder if all of us are not
imposing too much of a burden on
John Vlllepigue. This man, whose,
skilled coaching has made Camden
football famous over a wide radius,
has given of-"his time generously.1
Coaching a football team the way;
John Vlllepigue does takes a lot out
of a man, especially in a physical war
We wonder if it is fair to John Vlllepigue
to carry the season through November
18 and 24th.
