in erecting a now Jail, and
Whereas, at one time assurance was
given that such aid would bo available^
but, unfortunately, It later developed
that the sauie could not be
! secured at that time, and
Whereas, Kershaw county Is the
only county In the state having made
application for such aid for tho building
of a Jail and not having received

Whereas, It Is understood that In
the near future the Federul agencies
above referred to will be lit position
to give Kershaw county the necessary
assistance;
Now, therefore, be It resolved, that
we, the members of the Democratic
Convention of Kershaw County of the
year 1MJS, strongly favor the erection
of a new jail at the earliest possible
tiaie.
Resolved further, that the Works
Progress Administration and the Public
Works Administration be urged to
looperate withHhe authorities of Kershaw
county to the end that Federal
aid may be immediately available.
Resolved further, that the I'nited
States senators from South Carolina
and the congressman from the Fifth
Congressional tfistrict he requested to
immediately bring to bear all of their
great Influence upon those in authority
to procure the aid of the agencies
of the I'nited States government
above referred to for said purposes.
Resolved further, that" copies of
Ihese resolutions be furnished to each
of our I'nited States senators, to the
( ongressinan from the Fifth Congressional
district, to the heads of the
W P A. and P. W. A., respectively,
in South Carolina, and to the newspapers
of Kershaw county.
The above resolutions were unanimously
adopted by the convention.

amount of the above appropriation, except
that they may borrow for the
renewal or extension of existing indebtedness
as may be needed lor that
