Beckham Russell of this city. The wedding took place at Lexington, S. C. The announcement came as a groat surprise to the many friends of tho young couple. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Z. Miles, of Ridge way, and the groom a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Russell, of this city. The young couple have taken up their residence on Highland avenue. The groom is one of the well known athletes of> Camden. He has been active in football, baseball and other outdoor games and by his efficiency, gained the sobriquet of "All-American Beck." I Bride-Elect Honored | MHs Emily Shannon, popular June bride-elect, was honor guest at a very lovely party Saturday afternoon given by Mrs Ixniise Cantey and her daughter. Miss Carolyn Cantey, of Char-j lotte, who spent the week end here with her mother. After bridge, the guestB were invited into the dining room where Mrs. J. S. I Mrs. Cantey Hostess When Mrs. Willis Cantey entertained her card club Wednesday af. ternoon she added an extra table in honor of her niece, Mrs. Thomas Davis of Washington. D. C., who is the guest of her mother, Mrs. T. J. Kirkland. Playing at the extra table with the honor guest were Mrs. James Sanders, of Florence; Mrs. Jack Whitaker, Jr., and Mrs. John deLoach. Others playing besides club^members, wore Mrs. Wyndham Manning and Mrs. Stanley Morse, of Stateburg, Mrs George R. Cook, Mrs. Hutchinson and Miss Helen Harman. D. C. will be read and taps sounded by a squad from the Kershaw Guards. The general public and all school children are cordially Invited to attend these exercises at 5 o'clock p. m. All members are asked to be present and wear badges. ^ ND-s. Nettles Entertains Members of the Wednesday afternoon contract club were entertained this week by Mrs Jack Nettles at the home of Mrs J. T. Nettles on Laurens street. Playing for absent members were MIsb Virginia Haile, Miss Marie Halle and Miss Mary Goodale. A 'prize was given at each table, the winners being Mrs. Irving Pearce and Mrs. Basil Bruce. Neighborhood Bridge Club Mrs. Alfred Mcleod entertained the Neighborhood bridge club Wednesday afternoon at her home. Before the card games a sweet course was served. In the bridge games Miss Laura May Brown and Mrs. A. C. McKain won the high score prize. To Meet With Mr?. Mullen The American Legion Auxiliary will meet on Friday afternoon. The dispute, It is said, arose : over the closing of Mr. Falle's store. The Injured man received two deep ( gashesi one on the front and one on the back of his body and was hurried , to the Camden hospital where two blood transufusions were required. It is reported that ho Is resting easily this (Monday) morning. Sheriff Blacknum. accompanied by his deputies arrested Starnes and lodged him In the county jail where ho will be held pending the outcome of Falle's Injuries.? I^ancaster News. The bodv of William Orr, companion of Magistrate H. W. Thomas ami Assistant Game Warden Gus Thomas, Df Hardeevillo, when they disappeared In tho Savannah river swamps December 22, 1937, was rtyovored on Saturday. Although badly decomposed, the body was identified as that of Orr. The body of Magistrate Thomas has never been recovered. Indications wore that both men had died from drowning.
