done. But he did not do It On the
contrary he began to sell advertising
space on the card The Chamber of
Commerce heard of It and began looking

"hooked'" several business men for

party because he had left town
Tuesday another scheme was in the
budding?this time being worked thru
church affiliation And so on. and so
on, until the business men and citizens
have gumption enough to say
"no"?or to inquire for the credential
card
Camden has an organization under
the direction of a trained man who
knows these advertising rackets and
i ail tell whether or not they have
merit. Camden business men and citizens
will be ahead many hundreds
of dollars if they will be guided by
the Chamber of Commerce in dealing
with these unprofitable schemes
So. the next time anyone approaches
you and wants you to invest
in some scheme involving an advertising
charge, ask hltn or her if the
Chamber of Commerce has approved

Keep Fire Out of Woodland
District Forester R. W. Rieger reports
that forty-five Area burned over
1.212.7 acres on the 1,033,063 acres
under protection in the Camden forest
/district during the week ending
Thursday, February 10, 1938.
The Forester states that many of
these fires are the result of carelessness
on the part of persons burning
ditch banks, fields and debris Persons
having occasion to burn ditch
banks or waste areas are urged to exercise
every precaution to keep fire
out of the woodlands

widely spoken of as the possible
choice for the first paid president of
the New York Stock exchange. Gardner

Mrs. Carson suffered a stroke on resdIng
of her son's death and died during

meeting by singing the greeting song.
Devotional by Dorothy Roach, followed
by the I word's prayer. The president
called the roll as the secretary
was absent. Then the meeting was
turned over to the county home demonstration
agent, Miss Ft) well, who
talked on two subjects?the first was
on "How to make different kinds of
bread." She told whut Ingredients

necessity of having bread In regard

she took up her subject on "Personality."

A deputy collector will be in Camden
at the county court house on
Tuesday, March 1. for the purpose of
assisting persons to prepare their income
tax statements for the I'nlted

Dr Ralph Dunn, of Camden, will
move to Sumter In a short time to
take up the practice of medicine, br,

A dynamite bomb, set In a flower
pot, shattered the front porch of the
home of Mayor Clint Vinson, of Meridian,
Miss., early Tuesday. No one
was Injured and the damage was
slight.
Wendell Forrest Bowers. 19, pleaded
guilty In the court of N'orrlstown,
Fa., to the charge of murdering Mrs.
Wilina V Carpenter by shooting, and
an attempted criminal assault on Miss
Mary Griffith, in the Carpenter home.
Arrangements are being made for
a state visit by King George of England
to France next Juue. This Is
considered as a planned demonstration
