VonTresckow. Mrs. H. O. Marvin and Mrs. L. I. Gulon. Presiding at the candle-lit tea table was Mrs. T. J. Kirk land and Mrs. Henry Savage. Jr., assisted in serving. Society Gives Shower Saturday evening the members of tho Woman's Missionary Society of the Wateree Baptist church entertained at a miscellaneous shower in honor of Mrs. J. C. Ewlng. a fall bride who has recently moved to Camden to make her home. Arrangements of autumn leaves and yellow chrysanthemums attractively decorated the community club house where the party was held. A basket of many lovely and useful gifts for the honor guest was brought in by two of the hostesses dressed as negro mamiliies. About fifty guests enjoyed the party. Birthday Party For Lad John Stevenson, son of Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Stevenson, celebrated his seventh birthday Friday afternoon with 1 party given by his mother. TwentyIve little friends were invited and t'ari-colored balloons were given them ipon their arrival. Prizes in the con;ests were awarded Ida McDowell and Billy Salmond. After playing games 'or an hour or more the guests were invited Into the dining room, which was prettily decorated in yellow and white. Kennedy Chapter IT. D. C. was entertained on November Irst at the home of Mrs. Aldredt on Hampton street. Mrs. E. D. Drake'ord was assistant hostess. This was the largest meeting since work has been resumed in the fall. The presllent presided. Reports from officers md committees were heard and Important business attended to. The historian, Mrs. S. C. Zerap, requested willing assistance from those called upon In historical work. She asked that the Confederate war not be spoken of as the Civil War, but The War Between the States, and that we speak of the U. D. C. and not U. D. C's. Mrs. Chewning, Mrs. VonTresckow and Mrs. 8. C. Zemp were to represent the chapter at the fortyfourth annual convention at Florence November 3 to 5. Mrs. VonTresckow consented to look into the matter of having books on Confederate history and literature in the library for reference should pupils of the schools desire to write essays each year Mrs. S. C. Zemp will be hostess fdr the December meeting. Zemp Thursday evening at the Zemp'a cottage at the Hermitage I^ake. Attended Family Reunion Mrs. C. W. Evans has returned to Camden from a family reunion held at her old home at Summerton. One of her brothers, W. S. Feiry, of San Benito, Texas, was present. He left j South Carolina forty-five years ago to make his home in Texas and it was hiB first visit back to his old home In thirty-five years. He had to drive 1,865 miles to reach Summerton. Mrs. Hay Entertains Mrs. W. O. Hay entertained members of her card club Thursday afternoon at her home. Club members present were Mrs. Jack Whltaker, Jr., Mrs. John Villeplgue, Mrs. Klrkland Trotter, Miss Lillian Yates, Mrs. E. N. McDowell, Mrs F. M. Zemp. Additional guests playing were Mrs. R. B. Met With Miss Halaall The Trl Gamma club held Its fifth meeting this year at the home of Miss Jane Halsall Tuesday afternoon. The minutes were read by the secretary and dues were collected by the treasurer Plans were made for the Trl Gamm^ Thanksgiving Festival to be held on I>aurens Street opposite the Camden Library. This area will be roped off, enclosing booths In which cakes, caudles, hot dogs, and balloons will be sold. There will aJso be side shows, pony rides and a bingo booth. This gay affair will take place the day after Thanksgiving, November 26.
