The bride, who was met by her ither at the toot of the stairway, wen ted a picture of girlish beauty i she descenedd the staircase which is artistically decorated with smi lux and ivy. Her wedding dress, a princess model of duchess satin and angel luce, the yoke of which was banded with seed pearls and caught 1 with a brooch which was worn by i her paternal grandmother at her wedding and for whom she was named. Her tijlle veil, bordered with chantilly lace, was worn cornet effect and caught with a wreath of gardenias. She carried a shower bouquet of bride roses and lilies of the valley. i The bridegroom's best man was his brother, Claude Williams, of Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Drennan, mother of the bride, wore gray chiffon with a corsage of pink radiance roses showered with valley lilies. Mrs. Williams, mother of the groom, was attired in black chiffon with a corsage of pink radiance roses showered with valley lilies. Mrs. Williams is the younger daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. F. A. Drennan, of Liberty Hill. She was graduated from Queens-Chicora and is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Since her graduation she has taught Home Economics successfully in the Blaney school. Mr. Williams, the son of Mrs. Etta 1. Williams and the late R. B. Williams, of Camden, is one of Camden's most popular young business men, being connected with the Commercial Bank of Camden. He is a member of the Exchange club, Commander of the American Legion Post in Cam-' den, and a Mason. After the ceremony a reception was heldi The house was decorated with arrangements of garden flowers and lighted candles. In the dining room a green and white motif was used, j and the table was decorated with a lace cloth centered with crystal bowl ' of shasta daisies. Queen Anne's lace j and fern. White tapers burned In | crystal holders. Receiving in the reception hall was Miss Sophie Richards. Miss Righton Richards invited the guests into the dining room. In the gift room Elizabeth Gandy and Johngy Richards presided. Serving the green and white block ice cream and diamond shaped cakes in green and mints were: Jennie Jones, Mary Robertson, Agnes Caldwell, Annie Mae Cureton, Ann Thompson, Lucy Clements, Willie Lee Higgins, Annie R. Miss Nettles Honored The pre-nuptlal patties complimenting Miss Olive Nettles, whose marriage to Dan Maekey will be an Interesting event of- Thursday, continued with a lovely party Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Jack Nettles entertained at a bridge lea for Miss Nettles at the Nettles home on Lauren# street. Fink gladioli and oilier garden flowers were used about the rooms and in the dining room the centerpiece for the attractively appointed table was a crystal bowl of Sliusta daisies und Queen Ann's lace. Cundies. cake und mints were in bridal green und white. Mrs. W. It. Zemp and Mrs. John Nettles assisted the hostess in the dining room. The honor guest's gift from the hostess was a piece of lingerie and there was also a gift for Miss Louise Drennan of Liberty Hill, whose wedding to Marion Williams took place Tuesduy evening. The bridge prizes went to Miss Virginia Haile and Mrs. Alexander Clarksou. Calling after cards were Mrs. W. F. Mrs. Hick Rieger was winner of the high score prize. To Tour Europe Mrs. R. M. Kennedy, Jr., and Mrs. L. I. Guion left this week for New York where they will sail today on ^"California" for a trip to Europe. While away they will visit England, Francp .Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Mt. Zion Club Met The Mt. Zion Home Demonstration club held Its June meeting at the home of Mrs. J. B. McCoy, with a large number present. Mrs. Wade Holley called the club to order. After singing "Would God, I Were the Tendor Apple-blossom," Mrs. Henry Belvin conducted the devotional. Miss i.Eva McCoy read the minutes and each member answered the roll Jyy telling some of he^ plans for the summer. Miss Fewell then took charge and passed out garden notes. She told of I her trip to the State Short Course, which made every one wish they had I gone and she then discussed the county short course. Many of the members are planning to attend. ROTARY CLUB NOTES With III Hindu y h meeting tin* Camden Rotary club began its eleventh year. The new president, A. Sam Kurcsh was inducted into office, succeeding A Douglas McArn. New directors also taking office this week are: Husil Urine, Moultrie Hums, John W. Corbett, J. K. deLouch, A. Douglas McArn and R N Shannon 'I hree recently elected members of the club were formally presented with their Rotary codes of ethics by the club's first president, Dr John W. | Corbett. These new members are: Dave Kirschner, Jerome Hoffer and John Mullen. Visiting Rotarians were: George Wright, of the.Chester club, and John Fox, of Charlolte club Other guests were James W. At tin* meeting next Thursday Moultrie Hums will give a report on the annual convention of Rotary International which was this year held in Nice, Franco. FORMER CAMDEN MAN REFUSES FILM WORK The following is clipped from a New York daily of recent date: "Mat Ferguson, son of Mrs. Walton Ferguson, has certainly had a strange and exciting experience these past few weeks. Mat was all set for Peru. He was dining in a restaurant with a friend one night. There happened to be a movie scout dining there, too; the result being that the movie scout immediately introduced himself and offered Mat a Bcreen test. "Mat 1h, of course, n very handsome young man, but the idea of being an actor on the screen had never entered his head. Mat took his test, which turned out marvelously, and he was offered a contract for five or six years, with the possibility of taking one of the roles in "Gone With the Wind." It was all very tempting, but, after much consideration, Mat deciaed he didn't want to be tied up for so long with a contract, and, of ail things, has decided to go to Peru instead. Can you imagine anyone turning down a movie contract like that!" Join Treasure Hunters At Library The boys and girls of Camden and vicinity are invited to Join the Treasure Hunt now being enjoyed at the Camden public library. Searchers may find their treasures in silver, gold, or diamond mines (lists of books) for answers to questions supplied by the librarian. A treasure, cheBt has been provided into which all finds are dropped. At the end of the summer a meeting will be held to compare clean-ups, unearth all undiscovered treasures, and award prizes. Has Birthday Party Alice Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Wilson, celebrated her fifth birthday Tuesday and wbb honored with a lovely late afternoon party given by her mother. The little guests enjoyed an hour of games on the front lawn. Balloons and suckers were given as favors. An ice course was served and the birthday cake topped with candles was the centerpiece for the table. Jury Convicts Henry Adams, Jr. After being out for three bourn and forty minutes the Jury in the case of Henry Adams. Jr., who was tried for killing of James Outen at Korshaw oi? March 28. 1936 brought In a verdict of guilty of involuntary manslaughter and the defendant wan sentenced to serve a term of fifteen months in the state penitentiary. I This cane grew out of the deaths of James Outen and Brown Simpson by being struck and killed by a car driven by Henry Adams at Kershaw Just at the city limits of the town where the road bends bv the Kershaw Oil Mill office. Thin defendant was placed on trial for the killing of James Outen but the charge against htm for the other death will probably be nol pronsed.
