Engagement Announced Mr and Mrs. Thomas la-e Little I announce the engagement of their I daughter, Katheriue Virginia, to Wylio 101 Hot Sheorn. The wedding will take place December 31. The foregoing interesting announcement was made at a pretty party given Saturday afternoon by Mrs. R. 10. I Stevenson at Iter home on Fair street. Guests were invited for four tables of contract and Mrs. Willis Sheorn, J mother of the bridegroom-elect, Mrs. Roberta Smith of Charlottesville, Va., Mrs. W. R. Zemp Mrs. John Nettles and Mrs. Benton Sheorn called after cards. Lovely fall flowers were used In the party rooms and on the refreshment plate, which was served late in the afternoon, the salad was made In the shape of Dan Cupid who carried the announcement under his arm. Seated at the head tuble with the honor guest were three of her brides maids, Miss Marie Halle, Miss Jean Harris and Miss Harriet Beard. Mrs. Lee Little, mother of the bride-elect, won the high score prize and Miss Dorothy VanLandingham won the lowprize. while Mrs. John Nettles cut the consolation. The hoBtess' gift to the honor guest was a dainty piece of lingerie for her trousseau. Miss Little is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Lee Little. She was graduated from the Camden high school and attended Wlnthrop college, since which time she has held a position with the Haiglar Theatre. She is popular with a wide circle of friends. Mr. Sheorn Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sheorn. He received his education in the Camden City schools and is at present connected with the Camden Dry Cleanery. Montgomery Wins Lancaster Primary Lancester, Oct. 11.?Lee O. Montgomery was nominated for clerk of court in a special primary election overe Roy Blackmon today. The unofficial count gave Montgomery 3,225 votes to 2,552 for Blackmon. One special primary to fill the vacancy In the office was held September 22, but the result was nullified as the Lancaster county democratic executive committee ordered another election. Dinner Party For Mr. Maya Lee Mays, popular manager of the Western Union Telegraph Company of this city, left this week to take up his new position in Anderson. A group of Camden friends gave a dinner in his honor Monday evening at "The Pines." Covers were laid for thirty-five guests and a handsome gift was presented the honor guest. Guests of Mrs. Gandy ' Members of the San Souci club were guests of Mrs. James Gandy at Park View Inn Friday evening. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Williford were additional guests. Mixed autumn flowers docorated the party rooms. Mrs. Hughey Tlndal scored high among the ladles and M. M. Reasonover among the men. Each received an appropriate prize and Hughey Tlndal cut the consolation. A salad course followed the card games. C Small, Cnited States marine corps, officer in charge of district recruiting headquarters. Savannah, Ha., announces that t enlistment quota for October has been set at thirty-five, which includes five vucanclcs for young men between 17 and IS years of age to learn the drum and trumpet. All applicants must be single, without dependents and must pass the usual rigid physical examination. In addition to the above quota, Cuptain Small stated that ho will enlist ten musicians who can read and play by note any one of the following named instruments: flute, piccolo, trumpet, banjo, trap drum, trombone, violin, bass drum or piano. Musicians who can fulfill ull requirements will be enlisted as privates for general service and will be transferred to the recruit depot at Parris Island, S. C., for recruit training Upon completion of (raining they will be assigned to the baud school at Quantico, Va., for a course of Instruction. Upon completion of this course of instruction they will be detailed to the various post bands I (abroad and within the United States) where vacancies exist. The usual age limits for enlistment are 18 to 2f), but specially qualified muslciaus may be enlisted up to 30 years of age. For full information, application blanks, etc., communicate with the Marine Corps Recruiting Station, the Post Office building, Savannah, Oa.
